A new report from the University of California shows that the state's decision to raise the minimum wage for fast food workers to $20/hr didn’t hurt jobs, or raise prices much.
Data from over 2,000 restaurants shows that the $20/hr minimum wage didn’t reduce employment.

They have killed at least 28 people in the field and 52 in custody since Trump retook the White House. These are minimum numbers.
Yes!!! The world needs this! Congratulations, Pat!!💖
Gonna drop the gimmick for a second and explain, as a therapist. What you're describing is a phenomenon called Revenge Bedtime Procrastination. It's a subconscious habit that develops in which a person seeks dopamine-releasing behavior at night to exact "revenge" on the day which deprived them
i’ve always said the generally hellish experience of going through TSA would be improved by bringing in other federal agents with no understanding of airports who love to shoot people

A picture of the Goya painting Saturn devouring his son. Instead of a baby Saturn is holding a coffee mug that says “don’t talk to me until I’ve had my son”

New from 404 Media: Proton Mail, the privacy-focused email service, gave authorities data that let the FBI unmask an anonymous 'Stop Cop City' protester. It was payment data linked to the anonymous email account. From that, FBI ID'd them, then tracked their movements www.404media.co/proton-mail-...

Thank you, Adam @cowboyjamboree.bsky.social!
Super Bowl viewers Sunday speculated that 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos appeared in the halftime show. In fact, he has been in hiding with his family.
“He can’t sleep well at night. He wakes up three or four times a night screaming, ‘Daddy, Daddy,’” Liam's father Adrian Conejo Arias, said.
Two beautiful books for the price of one!
If we could write perfectly, writing wouldn't be any fun.
Thank you for this! It's just what I needed to hear now.
"By the end of the two-year period, 94% of participants reported they were housed."
A million pilot programs show the same thing: when people are given enough money to afford housing, homelessness ends.
Other supports matter, but housing comes first. Not policing. Not moralizing. Homes.
On January 24th, my parents home burned down. They and my disabled brother escaped with only minor burns but they lost everything they've ever had.
I'm running a GoFundMe to help them recover and rebuild. I would be deeply grateful for any donations but also for any shares!
A phenomenal book!
today is the last day i will ask you to donate to people’s rent this month.
we are trying very hard to meet a $30,000
goal today to help the last few families on our list before their rent grace period ends.
Okay! This has already inspired a bunch of DMs, so I made a page on the website. If you have 50,000+ Skymiles and would be willing to book flights to get someone home, please fill this out.

ICE has killed 9 folks in the first 26 days of ‘26:
• Alex Pretti
• Renee Good
• Keith Porter
• Heber Sanchaz Domínguez
• Victor Manuel Diaz
• Parady La
• Luis Beltran Yanez-Cruz
• Luis Gustavo Nunez Caceres
• Geraldo Lunas Campos
They all deserve justice. And for us to remember their names.
Please examine what body cams *didn’t do* to stop police violence over the last decade plus since they were initially touted as a solution and understand that some of you are now rallying behind a false solution that will be a tool of criminalization more often than anything else.
We are all drowning in a pool of systemic propaganda so I understand why the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti feel esp shocking and I think it is important to do the internal work of asking yourself, if this applies to you, why the deaths of immigrants/Black folks don't shock in the same way
People are right to be incensed, but there are more names to uplift. ICE killed an immigrant man named Silverio Villegas González in Chicagoland. He had children. Victor Manuel Diaz was kidnapped in Minneapolis and died in ICE custody on January 14. Their names deserve to be repeated, too.

Grateful to the people who document this. So sorry for the people who had to witness this, but grateful to them for witnessing.
Once again: Focusing on their lack of training is a mistake. With "better training," their violence would simply cost more, and they would still kill whoever they wanted, but make it look more professional — to make people more comfortable, the way many of you are at ease with local police violence.
Useful info in quoted post, things you can do to help. Even if you don't have funds to donate right now, there are things you can do. ❤️
You can also send encouraging words to those of us in Minnesota here (& I know you folks have words):

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.
