Yes indeed, thrash can create microhabitats for some species, although sadly enough, glass bottles are often instead deadly traps for insects, micromammals etc.

Truly honoured to have received this PhD award from my university @upjv-univ.bsky.social. For sure I have been very fortunate with my supervisors and the team I have worked with 🌱
Merci Jonathan !!

A green glass bottle left behind on the forest floor, with moss and ferns thriving inside, moss even bursting out of the bottle

Same mossy bottle, this time held by a human hand. It's a small beer bottle, now a miniature greenhouse

Have a look at what my brother found in the forest this morning! Mosses, ferns... Is this not the most beautiful trash ever? 🍾

A forest stand visualized as 3D pixels, or "voxels", extracted on a 20 by 20 m square. It is dense, but the different tree stems are easy to distinguish. Voxels are colored by height, from dark blue near the ground to light green in the top of the canopy (24 m height maximum).

The beauty of trees as lidar point clouds... 3D pixel art 🌳 🧊

In our studies on #microclimate we often wonder about the best technical solution.
It's hard to make a choice... 🤔
Here some systems used or which will be evaluated.

Did you ever see Glass Gem corn? Yes, these are natural colors from real corn! 🌈🌽 This variety was selected in the 80s by a farmer in Oklahoma, who crossed ancestral breeds. My aunt has grown this variety, and though you can ear it as popcorn 🍿, I instead made earrings out of the jewel-like seeds!
