NEW: WebinarTV, a company that bills itself as “a search engine for the best webinars,” is secretly scanning the internet for Zoom meeting links, recording the calls, and turning them into AI-generated podcasts for profit.

Adding my sigh as a translator (who has seen how "impressive" LLMs are at spitting out wrong translations due to how they work). 😩
You can "not buy it" and disagree with the experts if you want, but that's still what they are saying.
Given their partnership with Palantir, as you mentioned, they don't even oppose domestic surveillance. They just don't want to be explicitly linked to it. This whole "standoff" with the orange f*cker is nothing but a PR stunt.
What is this trash? Even if the dumb chatbot got something right based on the numerous stolen data it used to generate a plausibly sounding answer, it's still just a probabilistic guess. Are you in the Silicon Valley propaganda business now?
Pale, male and stale even has the right initials to sum up what having to deal with those clowns feels like. 😩 Gonna have to steal this! 👏
Not sure if this still works but you can try to use a different e-mail (and use a diff. PC or at least clear all your cache/cookies) to create a new account under a fake name. I did this for the same reason, just so I'd have a backup in case I ever get locked out, and it worked for me.
Urrg, yes, I've heard similar stories from others. Just one more reason why LinkedIn sucks and we seriously need alternatives for this type of platform!
Coincidentally, I just read this article about LinkedIn and Persona: thelocalstack.eu/posts/linked...
With or without Persona getting hacked, nobody should voluntarily participate in these ID/age checks. (And it's a shame the blog post's author doesn't reach the same conclusion.)
With Ring’s recent partnership with Flock, which will further facilitate the sharing of video footage with police, and its new Search Party feature, the message is clear: Ring always will be in the business of leveraging its network of luxury surveillance consumers as a law enforcement tool.
fuck this lady, fuck the nyt reporter, fuck all of this. fuck amazon for introducing the KU page read model that makes this possible, fuck our tech overlords.

Can confirm. Our current spineless government is actually moving backward and we've never went "all in" on this. And a main reason? Because it's easier to point fingers at other countries saying "they're not doing anything either."
Don't underestimate the patience of ruthless, corrupt billionaires. And don't underestimate the gullibility of more decent people either. This is the same destructive method that has turned Amazon into the omnipresent shit that it is.
I would be so angry if the professor of a course I needed for my future career was doing all his teaching and grant writing and shit with chatgpt. so embarrassing. Jesus Christ. How did you get a phd if you need help writing an email? You're having 'conversations' with a chatbox?
Murder is a type of homicide. The ME did what an ME is supposed to do. Now the prosecutors need to do their job, too.
What kind of bad food did you eat tonight?
The word "terminate" has been used in the context of software for ages. Catch up!
Why do you help spread this propaganda?
Oh yes, the anti-bike lobby is strong! (And I'm saying that as someone who has a car.) It's just sad how much influence those corporations wield and how easily people fall for it.
The moderators of the largest German sub censored me for pointing out that some other user was downplaying serious child abuse with the way they had worded their post. So, yeah, this all fits together as usual.
Asking as someone who doesn't use TikTok with an account: Where is the censorship indicator in this screenshot? Is this the cutoff part at the bottom that says "Ineligible"? What's the full text or what other indicators are there? Thanks!
In a world where billionaires, corrupt politicians, and purely profit-driven corporations make the rules, not everybody can easily choose where to work, especially not in a region that doesn't exactly have a wealth of better opportunities.
It's the style promoted by self-proclaimed LinkedIn gurus who say it'll make the algorithm boost your posts more. And there are too many gullible people on LinkedIn who only try to write for the algorithm these days. (I suspect the shortness of each line is also due to small mobile screens.)
"According to Fluent Planet’s website, its translators 'studied at the best translation universities or have decades of experience under their belt.'"
Spoiler alert (from a translator): This is a white lie at best. Competent, experienced professionals don't work for shitty platforms like this.
This sounds weird. Maybe the support rep didn't understand your issue or thought you were referring to the hibernation feature. There are definitely several settings that can be adjusted (e.g., see help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tabs...). Good luck in case you want to give Vivaldi another try some day!
Say what now? I've been using it for quite a while. The only time there is a real delay is when you hibernated some tabs you weren't using (but this feature can be customized). Maybe it's a bug for some, but definitely not a feature.
They all do that AFTER they have turned a blind eye for years to amass more wealth than decent human beings need in multiple lifetimes. They usually get tax benefits for it, too, so their wealth just keeps growing. And many of their causes subtly preserve their own status quo. They're bad, period.
Reminds me of this "controversy" from a few years ago: slate.com/news-and-pol... – why does everything need a sequel or reboot these days? 🙄
"I was just following orders" has never been an excuse used by perfectly fine individuals...
I'll never understand why he thinks this is a selling point instead of an aggressively waving red flag. (Assuming you're talking about the same "he" I'm immediately thinking of... 🤭)
