🔎 Our #UKPoverty2026 report was launched this morning.
People in very deep poverty now make up the biggest group of people in poverty, at 6.8 million people.
This is unacceptable for the fifth richest country in the world, and it has consequences.

The Catalyst Programme will support schools, colleges & APs to adopt evidence-based strategies preventing children’s involvement in violence. YEF will fund 5-6 orgs to work with settings in high-violence areas, aiming for sustainable change.

Fantastic day with the St Bart’s Multi Academy Trust Partnership Development Team. We’ve now completed stage 3 of the Evidence Exploration Partnership where the focus has been on refining aims & identifying desired behaviours at a school & system level.

My final regional meeting! We spent the day exploring EEF’s newest TA guidance report & discussing implications for regional mobilisation. We also reviewed plans for strategic exemplification, drawing upon learning regarding how to use video well. Will miss these meetings!
Last week, I attended an @anti-stigmanetwork.bsky.social webinar focused on substance use related stigma across general practice. It was great to explore approaches to developing inclusion & addressing the impact of societal stigma regarding alcohol & substance misuse.
Chart showing that in 2018, the UK was among the worst in Europe for child poverty rates, second only the Greece.
The UK is among the worst nations in Europe for child poverty.
In the UK, 11% of 15-year-olds reported they had skipped a meal in 2022 because there wasn't enough money to buy food.
In the Netherlands and Finland, this number was 3%.

Today we delivered Workshop 2 of our Evidence Exploration Partnership in Warwick. The focus of the day was examining local data to build consensus around the priority for the partnership. We also discussed the importance of promoting equity & challenging unconscious bias.
