Currently rewatching The Terminator and honestly if, really when they decide to make another entry in the series they really need to make it a horror film. I love Terminator 2 but making that a full on action movie set the series down a path to failure.

The fires are still burning at an alarming rate. There's no guarantee that even if they get under control that cleanup and rebuilding will go as planned. Choosing to not hold an awards ceremony during a tragedy doesn't invalidate anything.

It's not about that, but that's what surrounds the awards. You can celebrate and recognize the art on a smaller scale after the fires and cleanup.
