i know im cruel so please be kind
im graduating this summer IT COULDNT HAPPEN FASTER why in the world did i choose a business degree
when writing fiction: 3k? yay! watch me turn this into 10k
when writing a uni report: if i have to write more than 500 words im going to explode
if it isn't the consequences of my actions (needing to write 3k words report in 3 days)
i post them but never include context so uhh
- this is Nicholas, she's an eldritch god of fear and death reincarnated into a failing novelist
- and this is Kyoshie, the flamboyantly dramatic archenemy of Nicholas' past self and the very devil incarnate
toxic to tragic yuri ensues
half-elf character called cassian. they are very androgynous with tan skin, midnight blue hair, and brown eyes with cat-like pupils. they're an assassin and dressed in sogdian-inspired robe with a long black scarf.
dragon character called red. she has a humanoid form of a woman with red scales and red hair with white bangs. her dragon form is a powerful western dragon with red main color, white underbelly, and black accents.
i haven't posted them in a hot minute, mostly because i rarely draw humanoids since they take me x2 time of furries
but here are Cassian and Red. Cassian has to pose as Red's maiden or otherwise they get eaten (not in a sexy way. although...)

i think you can very clearly see its dna in my work, especially writing lol. i first played it at 16, it was one of those things that permanently imbedded itself into how i express myself and what i enjoy in fiction
everyone who even mildly likes visual novels needs to play it NOW this is non-negotiable
man i love the great ace attorney duology so much, revisiting it is always an instant burst of inspiration in every direction
Bday gift for @eldritchyuri.bsky.social

will add more if i think of other critiques, another notable one though is complete absence of queer rep in spite of game trying so hard to be some kind of leftist ideal bastion
another thing about ebb's political/lore rants is that its rarely in-character, almost always it feels like author's uninterrupted stream of consciousness (12)
i correctly predicted that picking dialogue advantage against male characters would be more beneficial LMAO. genuinely there are little to no ability checks with fem characters that actually matter. good job on repping feminism game really good (11)
like im sure there are male gamers playing that needed this rant to educate them but it didn't make it any less frustrating to have the most basic concept behind feminism explained to me, a gay genderqueer woman. it also rang very hollow in the end because (10)
basically it has no critique for the creator's clearly preferred ideology, while in spite of being called commie propaganda de is not scared to call out and belittle it in the script. another moment that frankly pissed me off was the feminism rant during one of feat unlocks (9)
which is a huge flaw for a game that clearly wants to be political. it ends up ringing fairly hollow since not only it literally says which is the good path (azgalist/commies), all the political choices you make thru end up meaningless since it doesn't even show who won the election (8)
it doesn't have the balls to show characters being genuinely cruel to each other. not to say they never are, but all the instances i encountered (like news burning) were very tame, the two sides being nearly polite with each other (7)
its scared of both getting too stupid, resulting in it avoiding absurd or goofy jokes than just mildly amusing dialogue options, and its also scared of getting gruesome, especially in regards of racial tension, which you'd think would be easier with a billion of made up fantasy species but nah (6)
also the game is just not very funny. i wouldn't go all the way to call it unfunny, but its only a "pff" noise funny. mildly entertaining. de is hilarious and quotable and just some of the funniest prose ever tbh. overall it feels as though esoteric ebb is scared of itself (5)
it's chasing too much after tailcoats of disco elysium and missing its own identity. the most unique thing it has from de is lore, which is neat but becomes tiring after 5 npcs all trapping you in 15 minute rants about the lore (4)
pretty confident it was made by a person who thinks of stories in terms of plot first, characters second, characters exist in the service of plot. that can work (especially for short stories) but in pseudo vn with a colorful cast of characters its a fundamentally flawed approach imo (3)
a big problem is that im lacking a connection to the characters. like im somewhat attached to some of them just by the force of proximity, but i will stop thinking about them in a day. i wont be compelled to look at art or ponder their arcs (which didn't happen) or otherwise be intrigued by them (2)
