tenth circuit upholds denver george floyd protest verdict of $14 millie and does so in a full-throated rebuke of every ground that denver appealed on (in before @michaelkarlik.bsky.social)

A local teacher arrested during a pro-Palestinian demonstration on the Auraria campus is suing Denver police and campus leaders for violating her civil rights, including freedom of speech and assembly, according to a complaint filed in court.
this has been true since at least 2011. i say this as a middling northwestern law grad: there were so many middling northwestern law grads in my class getting prestigious clerkships simply because they were white dudes in fedsoc.
Why "tough on crime" isn't about being tough on crime, but tough on people, in one simple graph.
ALL sorts of other government services--the ones conservative pols denigrate while wrapping themselves in Blue Lives Matter flags--play a huge role in keeping us safe.
AND healthy, educated, etc.
This woman is a handpicked Trump supporter from Arkansas and she is less anti-trans than the median Atlantic columnist
every interaction shows an officer flexing their power, treating members of the public like the enemy, and being extremely rude to people for no reason whatsoever. it's clear they don't view their job as serving and protecting us. they're just here to live out their schoolyard bully fantasies.
spent the weekend watching about 20+ hours of body-worn camera footage of denver police officers who were accused of excessive force. what stands out, other than the rampant excessive force that goes unchecked every day, is the utter contempt that officers have for us.
Maybe don't build a new prison? Maybe start investing in upstream solutions? Maybe reform TABOR?
huge win by the folks at gratalegal.com (including @williamsdan303.bsky.social)!
A coward through and through.
A Colorado community activist was convicted last week of doxxing a Denver police commander in a first-of-its-kind case that has fueled debate about whether the state’s online privacy laws violate the First Amendment's free speech rights
one of these things is not like the others...
how much is axon paying hancock to push this op-ed?
Let’s go Colorado! Our campaign has the momentum to WIN!
BREAKING:
7 former Jena Griswold staffers just went public. Bullying. Retaliation. ABUSE. NDAs to cover it up.
Jena wants to be Colorado's Attorney General but she is unqualified. If Democrats are serious about workers, we CANNOT allow Jena to move forward as a candidate

A northern Colorado town accused of censoring critics on social media has agreed to pay one man blocked by the local government $45,000, according to court records.
"Jared Morgan will be paid $45,000 as a result of the settlement which stemmed from him being blocked from Kersey's official Facebook page. They're also required to change their social media policy."
“People feel let down by the Democratic Party and want to see folks who aren’t promising just to do the same old, same old.”
Joe Neguse, Jason Crow, & Brittany Pettersen get protested too for similar votes.
But none of them have chased a voter, put hands on them, or yelled.
Thirty years in office and DeGette thinks she’s untouchable. Denver has gotten nothing from her.
It’s time for change.

If you haven’t seen the clip of Dianna DeGette crashing out after confronted by a party delegate over Gaza, I recommend you check it out.

When I was in law school, people were painstakingly mapping out their paths to becoming AUSAs on like a 5-10-year time horizon, knowing full well that it just might not be in the cards. Now DOJ is just hiring whatever pervert 3Ls show up at CPAC.
I am so excited that @senadorajulie.bsky.social is a viable alternative to Hickenlooper who, for the millionth time, literally did not even want to be a senator and ran solely bc he did not have a viable presidential campaign
colorado
Only took her seven years working at the private prison company to realize it was bad, that’s a judgment which proves one is fit for lawmaking!
tina peters shouldn't be in a cage, but neither should every single other person who is currently caged in colorado.
always love a good (thirty) minute order from judge jackson. unless you're on the receiving end of it.
