They're also making progress on the enormous mount being built in Rockford, Illinois. I describe it in the book based on 3-D renders of what it will look like, but someday I hope to see the real thing. GMT will be one of the greatest scientific instruments ever built, a marvel of human ingenuity!
Yesterday, I attended the GMT Summit, an annual update on progress. All seven 8.4-meter primary mirrors are complete (built in Tucson, Arizona). Now they're working on secondary mirrors which can deform hundreds of times per second to remove the jitter produced by Earth's atmosphere.
Part of my new book, Second Ascent, is set at the Giant Magellan Telescope, being constructed around the world and assembled in Chile. It's fun to imagine something amazing that doesn't exist but soon will! One of GMT's goals is to find other Earths! Yeah, baby. giantmagellan.org/2025/12/16/t...

And finally, for all the flat earthers out there who always claim "NASA forgot to add stars", zoom into the bottom right to see the stars that become visible when the planet is dark enough and the camera aperture is large enough. One picture debunks everything these idiots say.
Then zoom and scroll to the bottom and top to see auroras at both the north and south poles simultaneously! Then notice the thin crescent of white on the right side, which is daylight glowing high in the atmosphere.
This is a great Artemis photo of Earth for multiple reasons. First, it's the night side of the planet with the camera aperture opened to gather dimmer light. Zoom into Africa/Spain to see city lights.
At least we clearly understand there is no red line for them. Time for us to peacefully separate into two countries and start fresh with a new constitution for the 21st century.
We can update our 18th century constitution to modern standards but first we'll need a national divorce.

The constitution says Congress has the sole authority to determine the makeup of the court. So, if Democrats mange to gain control, this should be their top priority. Create 13 justices, establish term limits, and create a process (not impeachment) for removing the corrupt members.
