Update: Amit Desai has been safely located.
We're seeking the community's assistance locating a missing person. Amit Desai, 51, was last seen around 4pm at the Circle K at E. Franklin Street and N. Estes Drive. Investigators have concerns about his health. Call 911 if you see him or know where he is.
“I’m deeply appreciative of our fire rescue crews who responded quickly and stopped the fire from spreading to the neighboring unit,” said Chapel Hill Fire Chief Jay Mebane.

Estes Dr. Ext. near Village Dr. is currently blocked by the railroad crossing arms.
Give yourself extra time to get to or from Carrboro as you'll need to bypass this area.
We have notified Norfolk Southern Railway and don’t have a current estimate of when the arms will be fixed.

We're updating our service start times based on our road assessments this morning. Conditions on secondary streets require a later start for some of our routes.
Routes starting at 10am: FCX, JFX, B, J, NS, RU, U
Routes starting at noon: A, C, CL, CM, CW, D, HS, N, NU, T
Here are some service updates for tomorrow:
🔵Parks and Rec facilities will be closed.
🔵The library and book drop will be closed.
🔵Transit is scheduled to start limited service at 10 a.m. The F, G, CCX, and 420 routes will not run.

Our crews have been hard at work plowing primary roads today with secondary roads up next tomorrow. We’re asking everyone to stay off the roads tonight as temperatures dip again.

⛄Another winter storm is forecast to move into the area late tonight and lasting into early Sunday morning.
We'll continue to share service and facility updates via email and on our website.

Our Public Works crews have been hard at work clearing snow from local roads. Some still have slick spots, and we expect wet surfaces to refreeze again overnight.
Many of our services return to normal tomorrow, while some will be on a delayed schedule.
