Electricity generation - Renewables Percentage share californial US Total Source: Ember Electricity Data Explorer, ember-climate org E M B= R
This doesn't get talked about enough.
California has about 40 million people and the 4th largest economy in the world.
The amount of battery capacity added to their grid has doubled in past two years, solar has increased by 43% and methane burning for electricity has gone down by over 40%. 🔌💡
It’s not rocket science
Trump & his Cabinet say wind & solar are making electricity more expensive.
Federal data say the opposite.
Our analysis showed states w/ > avg wind/solar generation & > avg acceleration of wind/solar since ‘21 were likelier to have < avg power prices.

JP Morgan counters the currently prevailing narrative by which the electricy demand fromdata centers justified new gas power plants. JP Morgan: solar + wind are the 'strategic solution' as they can be 'deployed faster' than gas. www.jpmorgan.com/content/dam/...
this is a super key point. you (largely) don't need any traditional environmentalist eat-your-vegetables austerity or degrowth. we're talking about a future of nearly free, clean energy bsky.app/profile/suew...
Seven countries currently get 100 percent of their electricity from renewable energy. Norway and Costa Rica are at 98 percent

Listening to this now, immediately requesting this book from the library. @peterbrannen.bsky.social 's "The Ends of the World" was one of my favorite books, and I still think about it regularly. Excited to dive into this one.
More than 85 scientists say that a recent U.S. Department of Energy report is full of errors and misrepresents climate science.
After 60 years of trying to electrify populations with fossil fuels, people finally figured out there was a much better way. One with less corruption. Electricity poverty is real and clean energy is now at scale to solve it. This will unleash human flourishing.
Washington, DC under military occupation in last August 2025, with banners proclaiming the absolute power of the primus inter pares
This is a real photograph of Washington, DC this week, where the United States president has ordered military occupation in peacetime, and ordered the display of colossal portraits of himself.

President Donald Trump’s attack on solar and wind projects threatens to raise energy prices for consumers and undermine a stretched electric grid that’s already straining to meet rapidly growing demand, renewable energy executives warn. 🔌💡

It’s pretty simple:
- AI is driving electricity demand up
- The Trump Administration is restricting new electricity supply from being built
- When demand goes up and supply goes down, you pay more for electricity.

Climate report commissioned by the US Department of Energy contains more than 100 false or misleading statements. Great work by @carbonbrief.org

People say "you shouldn't live in the desert" but remember we have always lived & thrived here. it's home. Instead, remember that what is happening in AZ is a case study for the rest of the country as climate change engulfs us & inactive federal policies fail to protect us. Your community is next.
As the clock ticks down on clean energy tax credits, states are stepping in to "accelerate renewable energy projects and get as many underway as possible before the new deadlines take effect," reports @emilypont.bsky.social.
