I'm impressed. You're in the UK?

Solar seems a bit of a crazy tie-in for a HP because the time of year you're running the heat pump most is when you generate the least from solar. Now if they could fit a wind turbine..!

Can't see how it will fare better, there isn't enough footfall to make it viable without the level of subsidy there isn't the money for.

I have an Obsidian document with 32 links to test out (and that's ignoring the list of "skills") and two browsers with tabs waiting to be transferred.

What's the modern-day equivalent of DeviantArt when you're looking for things like fan art *cough* LOTR emoji sets *cough* ?

Sorry, the bit around the model. opencode, pi, codex, claude code... plus another 100+ options that ppl on X are going "game-changer!" about.

Looking forward to hearing, because I've got harness fatigue.

Just read John Harris in the Guardian on the collapse of the UK high street - and why Reform is feeding on the wreckage.

It reads like a crime story. So let’s analyse it like TV detectives do:

Means. Motive. Opportunity. 🧵

This is wonderful, thank you!

Next time, could you write about if/why governments have never forward planned for each birth cohort for how much to tax them to pay for their retirement and later life needs? Life expectancy is predicted, medical costs not so much? Economically is it good to make the next generation pay?

I want to read/watch it (I've long thought of DI as a code smell as it affects code design)

Yes I lived near a coffee roasting factory for 2 years. I can still conjure the smell now (burned coffee, never like a nice fresh brew) it was that intense

This showed today on my Bsky feed and I'm grateful you chose a platform with RSS feeds, so as I try and stop scrolling I can keep up with what you write.

Email newsletters (with the exception of one I read every single week) disappear into the void of my inbox, never to be read

Yup, which is why everyone’s parents are now sat glued to Facebook with GB News on in the background.

Being retired must be quite dull, but believing you’re freedom fighters in some sort of ideological Cold War? Well, that’s exciting…

Remember the site Second Life? It was partly defeated because people could build online fantasy worlds separate from reality just by using social media. There, they could become cleverer or more popular than reality. They could even build phantom crises in which they were expert.

And so here we are

GitHub - Profesor08/masonry: This library helps to make masonry grid layout using css grid This library helps to make masonry grid layout using css grid - Profesor08/masonry

There's been polyfills for the old syntax, so I'm hopeful that we may be able to patch it for older browsers. Ref: github.com/Profesor08/m..., github.com/Sam-Apostel/..., github.com/bartram/grid...

one to two col layout - css grid (solved) ...

Hi @jensimmons.bsky.social thank you and what a Christmas present Grid Lanes is! Finally I can do really responsive layouts, no more "push the sidebar below the content": codepen.io/pbowyer/pen/... (preview img wrong as the renderer doesn't support grid-lanes...)

I don't know @danielroe.dev, what's the difference between a tuna, a piano, and a pot of glue?

Illbruck fm330 is closed cell and remains flexible, but it does not expand or stick well when I use it. Got there in the end, and used an ugly bead of silicone outside to keep the rain out. It'll do for a winter!

The terrible joint between double glazing and the wall

The terrible joint between double glazing and the wall

The glue on Tescon Vana is impressive, I've used it a few times mostly for repairs and not how it's meant to be used 😀

The problem here was a 20mm gap down the side of the window, sealed w 1/4" render if lucky. I added foam first but should have use liquid membrane or something bulky first
