Calling it the Spanish Flu was a huge disservice. It likely started in the US and was spread by US service members. I mean I guess the old saying is true about not learning from history and repeating it and all that. Why do I live in the dumbest timeline

The non UBC kids, it’s not for lack of applying, from what I have heard, most of them did apply (and probably got in) because it was there “home” school. I just wonder what the external influences are that are driving the decisions.

Kid that is still at home: none of the students, so far, have chosen UBC, all are out of province or Intnl. Older kids highschool: Every single kid that has committed so far has chosen UBC with the exception of 2. Wonder why one school has kids seeking experiences away from home and the other not

Most schools have “commits” insta accounts so friends and family can see what schools the grads are choosing to attend. I see my kids current school and my other kids school that she graduated from. Even though they are only about 7 km apart the choices for Uni’s is so different

I haven’t specifically looked for one but they may have one in their “creation station”. You probably have to book it, so if you go into their booking system it might show up

Watching people scatter around as I enjoy my morning on our balcony. I don’t understand why someone would hold on to a property that they never use. For the one week they are in town, just get a swanky hotel room for the price of the property taxes for the year.

There is a ground floor unit in my building, it’s the biggest one. Direct access to the seawall. No one live in it. The people that own it maybe show up for a week in the summer once a year. I think it got broken into last night. Lots of activity this morning.

Sure it meant that CP got a cash infusion but how much is Deloitte now charging on an annual basis to sell those IT services that were once in house, back to Canada Post?

Canada Post is bleeding money, how much money are they paying Deloitte every year for their services? Someone should look in to that. Also how does the CEO of Canada Post still have a job at this point?

You are working really hard to be the kind of American that Canadians aren’t interested in moving forward with and forgiving giving your shitty defensive posts to theirs.

Except you don’t have a functioning democracy and they are actively working to sabotage your elections. Keep being naive. No one said anything about violence. But you know a protest more often than every six months with more than a few million people might also be effective.

What fight exactly. Mostly what we are seeing is everyone waiting for elections in November thinking they are going to be fair. That’s not exactly fighting

For context it’s a school team, her costs are covered. We travel a tonne to watch her play vball. We have one more of those trips left before she is done. Those usually involve plane tickets.

Waffling: kid is playing soccer in Victoria this weekend. Do I love soccer? Not really. She says she doesn’t care if I go, but I feel like I should since she is almost done with all the sports she plays. It one of my last chances to watch. It’s pricey to go: ferries and hotel. Do I go?

The head of Palantir UK is a fascist from a long line of fascists. They find each other.

Also if you see teenagers around wearing weird outfits and looking sus, don’t worry they are playing a game. This week a lot of the schools that we know of have the kids wearing robes and goggles.

My kids spy v spy (or senior assassin) started today. She went out to “hunt” her target. It’s pretty funny’s. I don’t know how long she will last in the game but glad they are having fun

The fact that the human was only 6 minutes slower is way more impressive than the robot

In the UK Palantir is run by a fascist from a long line of fascists. Birds of a feather and all that.

Kid finished in the top 3000 out of 19000+ women and finished in the top 15% of women in her age category. She was 20 seconds slower than last year. Not bad for someone who does zero training for runs (the sun run is almost the only running she does all year)

🙄 can these losers just go away when they lose. He lost the leadership, he should have gone away. PP lost his seat, he should have gone away……who exactly are the ones that can’t accept results?

I did not get a good shot of her, so many people, but guy standing beside me offered to also take a video of her running by, and that was pretty good. She finished in 56 mins, which isn’t too shabby given that she is not a runner and never trains for this thing

Walking home and there is a Dad and little girl walking in front of us. Between the two of them they are each holding a hand of a Little Mermaid’s Barbie doll, and just chatting about their favourite princesses. It’s so cute.

Two boys who looked to be about 12 just ran by and one looked to be in tough, his friend was saying “come on we got this, we are finishing together, we are not quitting”. So great

Okay so I gotta find some good right now…..I love watching 10 yr old girls zip by big beefy looking guys at the last 200 m of the Sun Run like running 10 k has been a walk in the park

EMT just showed up. Ugh. Just ugh. I hate that people feel the need for whatever reason to use drugs, I hate the people have to come upon people who have overdosed. I’m grateful that people are willing to stop, because so many aren’t. This is gonna sit with me for a while.

Ugh just stopped to ask a lady who had stopped to help someone who had overdosed if she needed additional assistance, call 911. Nope guy is dead. Ugh. Sometimes I hate this city

Andrew Scheer on Rosemary Barton is on tv saying the Liberals are refusing to accept the outcome of the last general election. And Rosemary isn’t pushing back at all.
