Swing Kids (1993) is a really fascinating and sad look at a youth antifascist movement in Nazi Germany. Everyone does an American accent which makes the modern day parallels especially chilling. Plus Batman fights an evil Hitler Youth version of Dr. Robby from The Pitt. youtu.be/CKcWL6AxlrY?...

I guess I bring it up because if I had just "vibe coded" up to that point (if such a thing were possible) I would have not learned a damn thing
then during the pandemic I started making a digital version of a card game I designed, and that proved to be a great excuse to learn C#. i would just learn whatever stuff I needed to solve each specific task. i feel confident now, but it means some of my earliest code for the game kinda sucks!
similarly i had to self teach Matlab/SQL/JSL scripting to do other very specific stuff for grad school/work. i wanted for awhile to expand to some more general purpose language like C or python, but I never really had a reason to learn it, and I could never commit to finishing a formal tutorial.
it was kind of a cool project, i looked at satellite data to try and figure out when an aurora was happening. then later on I had to learn LABVIEW to control experiments with my computer. this was kind of a funny language because it was all visual, making a function was like "wiring" a circuit
my knowledge of coding has been entirely from starting a project and then needing to learn enough programming to finish it. i never took a CS class, but in undergrad my summer research advisor said 'analyze this data set' and then handed me a book about how to code in the IDL programming language
nearly 200 dollar entry fee for a ~2 hour long trailer dump event. guy has found quite the grift

"Are you fucking going to play as Rugal again?" asked a voice when I reached the Neo Geo MVS machine. "I absolutely, 100 percent, am not going to play as Rugal again," I promised, punching the buttons to select Rugal, which I had memorized.
Wait what's a mabo

I liked the idea of doing one page micro-comic gags. Unfortunately I was the only one.
to me the pitt is a love letter to new york city โ a town it lovingly accepts, warts and all. in a sense, new york is almost the show's main character

We ran this game at TSB and at joeycon and it was absolutely godlike. Some of the best moments we've had for spectators and commentary alike. Everyone should hop on this game. Leave reviews for games you think rock!!
It's been two months since the layoff and I have been writing up a storm! But social channels are unreliable, and I don't do algorithm bait, so please make sure you can keep up on my work by signing up as a Patreon member (free tier is fine) and you'll get it in your email.
