Sorry, last one! I also wonder if some of those aspects, which might overlap with LCA or even policy areas would be even better covered by SETACs sister journal IEAM. Anyway, all great food for thought! Thank you

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

Copy that! I have a feeling that that distribution might be due to authors preferentially submitting to those other journals and not a matter of ETC not considering those topics, but I will pass this along to my plastic’s colleagues. Appreciate the feedback!

I’ve been taking lots of notes these pasts weeks and will bring them up at the next editorial meeting! Please pass along (yourself or anybody reading!) any suggestions that you think would make ETC more attractive (other than IF, which is a harder issue with its own problems, hence why we are here!)

You do make a good point though! If our target audience is not aware that they can publish/find papers on their field there, then we do need to make a better job communicating that.

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

Hey Alex, newly appointed ETC editor here, happy to pass along any suggestions!. We do publish a fair bit of plastics work and other non-chemical stressors. Is your concern about specific tiers of OA available?

Agree, these are historically reputable journals. In hindsight the growing numbers were a red flag, but in the context of the field as a whole, it was hard to tell. Also, papers coming out now were probably submitted before the WoS decision. Those authors deserve being able to promote their work.

“We analyzed the DNA sequence of the protein in slow loris venom, discovering that it's virtually identical to the allergenic protein on cats."

* CATS ARE 'VENOMOUS' to a subset of humans, 15-20% of the human population. *

Let's talk about cat allergen, Felis domesticus protein 1 (Fel d 1)

Somehow I hadn’t seen this before. Loads of useful info. And just like that, I just spent a chunk of my Friday evening absorbed by it. Great use I would say! 🤓

And if there is a Risk Assessment course, that is definitely worth it. That’s where your research would end up, so it is good to know what the people who are going to be using it need, that way you can have that in mind when designing the studies. I hope that helps!

If you are thinking more general “environmental tox” and you are already doing the molecular route, then adding environmental chemistry is always a plus. You always have to consider the chemical and its fate in the picture for full context.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

Depends a bit on what you have already taken and the definition of Ecotox you are thinking of. For the more “eco” side of it, ecology or population biology would be good. Limnology if you are thinking aquatic is a nice comprehensive one.

I've just realized that I've been here for a year and a half and have barely shared any of the #Manitoba tourism posters I've done. I started making them as a personal project a few years ago and add a couple more every year when I have the time.

Here is a thread!! #art #landscape #CANartist

Remember that type 1 and type 2 errors go the same order as the boy who cried wolf.
Type 1 - villagers believed there was a wolf (effect) when there wasn't.
Type 2 - villagers didn't believe there was a wolf (effect) when there was.

Killer kitties: cats are eating 2,000 species, including hundreds that are at risk The first study to quantify what our felines eat on a global scale finds they have a significant impact on wildlife

Killer kitties: a reminder that cats play a major role in wiping out wildlife. How?

By killing literally *billions* of native animals every year, driving numerous extinctions. 🌍

Cats are NOT 'part of nature'. If you must have one, keep it indoors.

One part of our upgraded infrastructure may affect your profile.

If you see your handle now says “Invalid handle,” please reverify it by navigating to Settings > Change my handle > Type in your current handle > Verify DNS Record > Update.

(Basically, update to the same handle.)
