All these alien species are just a reflection of human traits.
If you look at different human cultures who suppress and rigidly control sexuality, you will find the outcome is very ah…alarming. The thing you suppress becomes expressed.
IE: priests, Victorian sexuality, Japanese censorship history

People were so dang irate over how Ake sat in this highly adjustable chair. I don’t get it. I’m going save this picture and use it as a reply anytime someone comes at me about how a woman SITS.
Hmm. Maybe they didnt know what bodies looked like when dead in space? 2 POSSIBLE ref sources: the dead at the bottom of Lake Superior or the dead sitting up on Mount Everest. Freezing temperatures inhibit bacterial decomposition. Many of these bodies look like they just died yesterday.
I had the same feeling about onion’s episodes. I wanted to know more about Steven’s neglectful parenting background and his lack of place or belonging because both sides of his family hated some part of themselves enough to hide his history from him. I wanted to see more of that consequence.
I can boycott paramount and all of its shows and still love Star Trek.
Also, I think piracy represents the exact unregulated capitalism that leaders at Paramount get all hot for, so I hope they enjoy sleeping in the beds they’ve made.
I’m not going to boycott Star Trek. That feels like abandoning the hostage because the kidnapper keeps them fed and alive. My target is the kidnapper. While I don’t have enough power as a single voice to change the political leadership of Paramount, I can rewatch hard copies and keep my love alive.
That’s what happened to me. We hated that theme song, then we sang it ironically. Now we pull it up on karaoke and “go for it.” It took years to get to this point. Fandom has cured me of my sense of shame. I just freaking love what I love now.
Starfleet Academy included!
I struggled to get through the first 3 seasons of DS9. I thought it was all over the place.
I need to know what you think of Steven Universe! I thought it was pretty solid and faced some BS from Cartoon Network’s anti queerness. What would have made it better for you?
Sounds like a trauma response. I sometimes see this in kids in school who get bullied (sometimes by their family) and then turn around and bully someone else to redirect the pain. “No one’s going to hurt me again. I’m dishing out the hurt now.”
The oppressed can definitely become the oppressor.
Yes! Let them be gay together. I was also sad we didn’t get to see how that relationship developed. I wanted to see some of that beach trip too! Would have been better than watching a speed run of bisexual wedding tropes.
I watched all of both even though not all of it was great. I saw the core features of Star Trek in both during the best moments, and the worst moments inspired me to imagine how that scene could have gone better.
…and sometimes I write it down.
I’m wondering if you took this scene out of context because you haven’t seen it yet.
A bunch of different things happen regarding the chair. Not just reading and lounging. I promise.
Absolutely!
Agree! Needed more Gina Yashere!
Genesis/SAM. There just wasn’t enough time/episodes to show this very normal angst. Genesis accepted SAM in all her changes. Being 1 years old vs being 17 years old was a BIG change. Genesis is a good, steady friend and will become a great captain.
The people who like to insult those of us who find joy in all Star Trek - you doing ok?
You know you'll always be welcome when you stop gatekeeping and just learn to accept differences, ok?
IDIC is a core tenet of Star Trek philosophy
Honestly, I can’t believe it took them so long to recruit younger audiences. Star Wars has been outpacing Star Trek on that vein.
I see, you like it when characters know exactly what they’re doing. You like competent adults already in their careers.
I’m curious about how people BECOME trained professionals who learn to hold the ideals I think represents Star Trek as a whole: CURIOSITY, empathy, collaboration, perseverance.
Try Prodigy. It represents the things about Star Trek that the foundations of some of the adult shows have: curiosity, empathy, collaboration, and perseverance.
Tumblr post: zoethebitch depression is kicking my ass lately ngl zoethebitch where's that post about the klingon therapist need to hear that rn asimovsideburns Klingon therapist: the battle against mental illness cannot be won decisively. It is a long campaign against an enemy who never tires, whose forces swell to twice their size whenever you look away. Battle against a foe of such magnitude, who occupies your very mind... every moment you survive is a triumph against all odds. There is no more honorable combat.
Morning motivation:
Just a thought, maybe I still do Trek related stuff on Thursdays to fill the void. Haven’t done fanart in a long time…
Really enjoyed Starfleet Academy. I’m looking forward to a second season and I hope it comes around quick. Don’t like all this empty space without Trek.
Janeway & Paris on their evening constitutional
Do you think horses have intense special interests in us? 🐴💕
Yes!
I need to see everyday stuff and know that we can pass on a little bit of our today to that tomorrow.

Help by making sure your towns and cities have mutual aid infrastructure *just in case*.
Hope you get some downtime soon!
I think it would have made more sense if she brought the bridge crew, but a few get injured and the cadets assume those roles and fight like mad to rescue their friends.
Half the competency? I’m happy to give that a chance, too. I’d love to follow the story of early career federation officers.
TNG had an episode called Lower Decks, but the animation by the same name takes a more humorous approach.
