This one's gone through a lot of revisions and editing. My original title and article were a lot more disparaging than this. Let's just say I'm coming back up from a long way down and it ain't over yet.

I wanted to say so much more in this article. Women make up a good portion of our hobby and community in the TTRPG space, especially on social media and YouTube. We love the ladies at our tables. Anyone who would say otherwise probably needs to get out of the Stone Age.
Hey TTRPG Family and everyone else! I'm back. Lots of random thoughts today. More to come. I can't believe how fast March went by. It's good to be back.
There could be more Yak based tables in the future. This one happens to be Yak-related magical mishaps as part of Magical March. In reality yaks are furry, lovable creatures and great measures should be taken to protect them. In Dragonbane, however, they are a source of great GM amusement.
Someone planted the Magical Pinecone, not knowing it would provide a permanent shelter for friends and small animals alike.
The Bed of Pine Needles is an artifact of immense healing power.
The Magical Stick... use at your own peril, adventurer.
A mysterious cryptid often found in thick forests and under bridges, The Goat Man is said to strike terror into the hearts of all who behold it before disappearing back into the brush. Presented here for the Dragonbane RPG because monsters are fun.
An imposing, lifeless figure appeared before us. It was a large, armor clad samurai warrior with only bones and darkness where muscle and flesh should have been. To stare into its lifeless eyes was akin to staring into the deep, desperate void of the beyond.
Free League Publishing announced that the stand-alone tabletop role-playing game Dragonbane: Trudvang is now live on Kickstarter. The campaign reached full funding within 4 minutes of launch, surpassing its initial goal of $25,000 USD and passing $150,000 in 30 minutes.
I originally had a most horrific beast lined up for today. It can exist in the archives for a while. In the meantime, please enjoy this adorable little fuzzball that is good for a weary party that needs a break from all the scary and hostile things in the world.
It’s no one’s job to police the internet. You never have to comment on someone else’s post. You don’t have to react to a social media comment in the heat of the moment or ever if you don’t want to. Sometimes it’s more productive to simple let it go. Also, Be nice to Jes.
Venomous Tengu are raven-folk predators that haunt mountain passes and lonely roads. From above, they strike without warning, spitting burning venom before raking victims with talons and beak, their harsh laughter echoing across the sky.
There are other ways of running a game without spoonfeeding your players an elaborate plot. I want to discuss some options. As always, you can't get it wrong. Do what works best for you and your group. But here's a few things to explore.
The latest Gates of Krystalia expansion: Lumina just launched on Kickstarter. Visit the world where all the gates converge. Meet interesting new characters. Discover interesting new places. Stay for the high-flying anime action in this card driven system.
I needed to take a break from all the Oni, demons, undead, abberations, beasts, and the like to do something not quite cute and cuddly, but definitely friendlier than most creatures.
We need to start treating Game Masters as a beloved and valuable resource again. Please do not let some overpaid DungeonTuber convince you that being a GM is too difficult or too stressful. You, too can be a GM for whatever system you choose. It's easier than it sounds.
Midweek Journey: Turmoil on the Homefront.
It's just been a week. More TTRPG content coming as soon as I have the spoons to make it all happen.
The Goatsucker Oni aka the "Goni." This hideous abomination makes rare appearances in front of witnesses. Those who encounter it usually don't want to talk about the experience. This concludes the Oni Cryptid series.
If you say, "There are too many TTRPGs on the market." You're just plain wrong and that's gatekeeping. Dude, if your whole conclusion is "buy your stuff," or "just play D&D?" Please stop making videos about the rest of the hobby. There is no such thing as "Too Many TTRPGs."
Lots of odds and ends this month. Dispelling one YouTube myth. Explaining some of this financial dilemma I find myself in. Hope you're having a lovely week!
They came from another dimension, just the tip of the invasion spear. They appear and disappear at will. Possibly a demon, or possibly an extraterrestrial.
Silly TTRPG Arguments: "Cantrips can ruin the fantasy world because in D&D 5E.2024 they're free to cast." I have some very simple fixes for this. I can't believe I'm covering this one, but it's so ridiculous I can't pass it up. Fair warning: I'm in full-on old Dungeon Master mode for this one.
Time to bark in the dark. I meant to post this over the weekend. Talking about TTRPG YouTube aka "DungeonTube." My most basic advice to DungeonTubers is go consult the "How-To-YouTube" niche. I do this sort of thing regularly. Today we look at a video by Alexa Saarenoja.
Continuing with our series of Oni Cryptids. Yes, regular cryptids are cool, but in a world with elves and dragons, how spooky is a regular cryptid. No, we need fangs and big demon energy. This one is an omen, or the beginning of the terrible tragedy.
I'm speculating that this series might not be benefitting a large portion of my audience or at all. I'm looking to see what else we can maybe do to make Wednesday more interesting. I think I'm starting to see why that one DungeonTuber gave up on worldbuilding advice.
"We knew something was off when the birds went quiet and all of the animals ran and hid. We spotted it a short distance away. Using my superior leadership instincts, we ran away as fast as possible." -- Plucky Pato, Adventurer Extraordinaire. (Self proclaimed.)
Just thought I’d check in. I wish you and your family a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year. Thank you again for being here. Regardless of where you found me or where you see my posts, I appreciate you.
There were a lot of ups and downs in 2025. I'm looking at new goals and intentions for 2026. I'm also looking at AI art, YouTube, the alleged "death of D&D." and all of the exciting things ahead of us in 2026. Especiallu that part.
Yes, this week's entry is a warm, wholesome, gentle tribute to the Elf on the Shelf cartoon character. It is not intended for commercial use. The character has kinda grown on me because my wife and kids are huge fans. I wanted to do something cute for the holidays.
Today we look at Ghosts of Wrath from Cawood Publishing. No mushroom dudes in this one. I can't say enough how much I love and appreciate adventure modules written with old school charm and awesome sandbox presentation or a linear plot if so desired. Ghosts of Wrath encourages you to explore!
