She said she was "gutted" by his murder. She described it as "horrific" and said it "should have never happened." And then she went on to post Kirk's words.

I come out of the global justice movt of the late 90s/early aughts - we were GREAT at this part. Radical cheerleaders, massive puppets, the Yes Men, Rage Against the Machine, Billionaires for Bush..or Gore. Making it fun was partially b/c WE wanted to have fun! This is what the Christian right has done so very well since the Reagan years. Mega churches are community - it has everything you need from daycare for young couples to youth groups to dances to music classes to a million other things. In my grandma’s day, you went to the Labor Lyceum for that.

The backlash agains feminism (ongoing) buried so much important thinking+learning from the mid-late 70s, bc it was primarily happening in that movement. It gets way less attention (in K-12 textbooks, pop culture, etc) than the anti-war and civil rights (neither of which get enough either).
