He’d be my choice if I lived there. Was California AG, previously US Representative. Has experience running a huge government entity. Only negative thing I’ve ever heard about him was some of his staff doing fishy finance stuff.

Stormy. She’s new to the house. Currently getting used to things. Will be slowly getting introduced to Natasha Cat.

Ol’ Chip is in a runoff to be the Republican candidate for Texas AG. He also backed DeSantis in the 2024 presidential primary. He’ll basically come wash your car if you’ll vote for him. Sad thing is, he’s the less crazy Republican in that race.

Yeah. I remember those. My folks used to gauge how serious things were by the status of the Nike missile site near Rouge Park. Missiles down, probably ok. Missiles up, probably time to worry.

Rats taught to drive tiny cars to lower their stress levels Researchers taught rats to drive tiny "ratmobiles" in exchange for food, which helped the rats relax.

I liked paleo a lot. One of the reasons I went into carbonate stratigraphy/sedimentology was due to the fossils.

What kind of paleo? Micro, invertebrate or vertebrate? My favorite was my undergrad invertebrate paleo. Our professor emphasized the environmental significance of the organisms. We also got to dissect modern forms of the major phyla.

Texas State is a pretty interesting institution. They have a really nice program offering assured admission and credit transfer for students attending Austin Community College, which in spite of its name, covers 11 counties in central Texas.

He was born in a (very) small town in Gillespie County. LBJ received his BS degree in History from SW Texas Teachers College (now Texas State University) in San Marcos, where he lived while attending college, taking time off from his studies to teach in a small town south of San Antonio.

Flong Time, No See: Forgotten Stories of Printing and Labor Collected essays and reporting on the intersection of type, printing, culture, and labor by journalist Glenn Fleishman

I am nearly 95% funded for my new book, Flong Time, No See, a collection of what (I think) are charming and quirky essays that weave together the history of obscure printing practices and working people’s lives. The campaign ends Tuesday! www.kickstarter.com/projects/gle...

I mean, we already have Riverside. Either Water Street or maybe Riverotherside Street would work for me. I have to feel for the small businesses that have to get new letterheads, envelopes and business cards. The renaming has to happen, though.

Numbered streets. Streets named after trees. Streets named after flowers. I always liked the Austin streets named after rivers

It’s fine. Maybe even very fine. But are you sure that this is the right medium on which to share something that you’ve cobbled up?

About the only other thing I could think of would be an old Sanborn Fire Insurance map (I think images are still available online at the Library of Congress.). They are useful in they are detailed and have building names
