The GOP is betting Latino Trump voters will keep them in power. That’s no sure thing. The congressional maps Republicans are drawing to boost their chances of keeping control of Congress depend on preserving their gains with Hispanic voters.

“You’re counting on a Mexican American to vote Republican again? That’s a crazy-a-- bet, bro,” Salinas said. “Because down here, what makes a difference is dollars and cents.”

In all the talk of Trump’s tariffs on Mexico & Canada, a reminder:

This violates USMCA, Trump’s new NAFTA, which his first admin spent 2+ years negotiating & getting through Congress.

He called it “the fairest, most balanced & beneficial” trade deal at the time but here we are.

Venezuelans backed Trump. Now some worry he’ll deport them. Venezuelans in the Miami suburb of Doral have been some of Trump’s biggest proponents. Many feel betrayed after he revoked temporary protected status for thousands.

“The Venezuelan community gave President Trump their support. ... This is completely different of what I thought it was going to be” @sabrod123.bsky.social and Reshma Kirpalani report from Doral

“Today, I feel the same way I felt in Venezuela — that they’re going to come take me somewhere I won’t be able to escape from.

I thought we would be safe here.”

For this Latino family, voting for Trump was part of preserving their American Dream They say Republicans can’t assume that they will always support GOP candidates, though. They’re waiting to see whether Trump keeps his promises.

Latinos like the Ramirez family were an essential part of the coalition that helped Donald Trump retake the White House. Now, they want to see that he keeps his promises.

Still haven’t gotten used to this app, but bringing my love of Abuela over here.

This weekend, we celebrated her 95th birthday & our big surprise was bringing her childhood best friend Ligia to the party.

Their friendship goes back to Guantanamo, circa 1936. Almost 90-year friendship right there.
