An article about Yoti being fined in Spain is making the rounds and I need to address it, because the conversation around it has become disconnected from what the article actually says and how Furality's age verification actually works.

We can't see that on our end. If VRChat ever connects CE status to age-gated access, it would count automatically. Until then, it's not something that can be available as an age verification method for Furality Online Xperience.
What we can check is whether your VRChat account can join age-gated instances. Whether Creator Economy verification counts toward that is up to VRChat, not us. That's what our system looks for, and Yoti is there as an alternative for anyone who hasn't or doesn't want to verify through VRChat.
You don't have to take their word for it. UKAS CertCheck lets you look up any company's ISO 27001 certification yourself. It's run by the UK's national accreditation body. certcheck.ukas.com
Fair question. Most companies don't publish SOC 2 reports because they contain internal security architecture details. Yoti's security page confirms ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification and annual SOC 2 Type II audits by a big four firm. yoti.com/security
We've been clear that Furality Online Xperience has been an event for adults since the very first one. We're not requiring age verification to put you at risk. We're requiring it because without it, you already are.
I can't solve the political climate. I can't make age verification disappear. What I can do is run an 18+ event responsibly in a space that is difficult to moderate, in a state that is actively legislating this, in a community where minors have lied to get in. This isn't overreach. It's overdue.
We also support VRChat's built-in age verification. Both options work the same from our side. We only see whether you passed. You choose which one you trust more. That's the whole point.
Yoti is UK-based, ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certified. They don't sell data. They don't reuse age check data for R&D or marketing. We picked them because their entire model is built around one thing: verify your age and forget you exist.
Furality does not use Yoti's Digital ID app. We use their Age Verification Service. Different product, different data practices. Their published privacy policy confirms everything I've said above. yoti.com/privacy/age-verification
Now the article. Spain's regulator fined Yoti over how data is classified and retained in a completely different product: their Digital ID app. No data was breached. The dispute is whether selfie-to-ID matching counts as "identification" under GDPR. It's a legal classification argument.
On Yoti's end: your personal data is deleted immediately after the check. There is no record connecting your identity to Furality after that moment. There is nothing to look up, subpoena, or hand over, because it no longer exists.
Here's how it works on our end: Yoti checks your ID, confirms your age, deletes your data, and sends us one result. Over or under 18. We never see your name, your photo, or your documents. We can't leak what we don't have.
I know what the real concern is. It's not about a fine in Spain. It's that somewhere, a record could exist tying your real name to a queer or furry space. I take that seriously. We were already thinking about it when we built this as an alternative option.

Graphic for the Furality Ultra Style guide. The outfits of the Ultravox Prism avatars are a combination of active streetwear and protective athletic gear layered on top of a base undersuit. Sneakers, belts, gadgets, and elbow/knee pads are typical accessories. On the left side of the graphic at the top is a line text reading, “Customize your avatar!” Below the text are four illustrations of avatars. Each avatar is an anthro character wearing Furality Ultra style clothing. They each are wearing bold outfits sporting vibrant colors. On the far left is a feline character with multi-colored hair and futuristic-looking eye-wear. Next is a hyena character sporting long, pink hair. Next in line is a gray wolf character with blue head and facial hair who’s wearing an outfit with a blue, white, gray, and black color palette. On the far right is a deer-like avatar with orange hair and an outfit that uses yellow, white, and black colors.

I have finally gathered enough mental energy to get this merch idea of mine off the ground 😅. At the moment I'm only starting with 1 design and US shipping only while testing thing out, hoping and already working to expand in both areas as soon as I can

Ethan,
I am so sorry for your loss.
I witnessed just how deeply you believed in her mission and helped in every way that you could.
Even the greatest of dreamers need someone who believes in them.
Your love and warmth shine through in your determination and strength.
I am beyond heartbroken.
Mikayla, I am so sorry I couldn’t do everything I aspired to do for you and your mission.
You never once made me feel weird or judged for who I was. We both were trying our best and doing what we believed would make the world better.
I will miss you.
🐺This is a very very special opportunity!
I've had the pleasure of working with Kreic over the past few years, and he is truly one of the best in both artistry & professionalism.
