Does Waymo seriously think our problem is FINDING potholes?
We already know where they are. The problem is paying to FIX them.
Rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft pay per-ride fees to support public programs and infrastructure.
But the CPUC allows Waymo and other robotaxis to operate on the same roads without any fees.
And the President of the CPUC?
The former top lawyer for a self-driving car company...
*Human* Angelenos pay to fix potholes and repair roads through our taxes.
But cities are blocked from putting ANY taxes, fees or regulations on autonomous vehicles.
Instead, that power is given to the obscure CA Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) — an unelected board appointed by the Governor.
This is nothing but Big Tech PR to distract from how these corporations use our infrastructure without giving their fair share.
They pay NOTHING to use our roads while displacing jobs, gutting our tax base & funneling profits to Silicon Valley billionaires.

Congratulations to educators and school staff for securing tentative agreements that deliver major pay increases & investments in our schools.
Good luck with ratification!

The secret to winning policies that help the working class?
Elect working people to office.
I was arrested as a juvenile.
That experience made me who I am today & it made me a better representative for all Angelenos.
No one deserves to be judged on their worst moments. Thank you, Estuardo, for learning, growing, and sharing your story.

Major potential reforms coming out of the charter commission. For too long LAPD has had a blank check to operate without actual policy oversight, and city hall was all to happy to abdicate responsibility 👇🏼
Now the real fight begins.
The proposal still needs City Council approval before voters get to decide.
Generation after generation of Councilmembers have passed the buck on the most important policy decisions facing our city.
Follow @laforward.bsky.social to make sure that ends this year.
This is a MASSIVE shift from where the process started.
The Charter Commission originally wasn’t going to consider ANY police reforms. But community groups including Catalyst CA, BLM LA, LA Forward, DSA-LA, and more made sure Angelenos’ voices were listened to so we can build a safer city.
Our proposal is simple:
Give City Council the ability to set LAPD policy through laws — just like we can for every other and issue in the city.
Commissions conduct civilian oversight. Elected representatives write laws.
Right now, most people assume that City Council – the city’s policymakers – make LAPD policy.
That’s not how it works.
Under the City Charter (basically our local constitution), our largest city department is controlled by the Police Commission – an unelected body appointed by the Mayor.

City Council doesn’t currently have the power to set LAPD policy, but that could soon change thanks to a decision last night from the Charter Commission.🧵
Street Lights face a $45 MILLION/year budget deficit because our street lighting fee hasn't been adjusted for inflation in over 30 years.
That's totally unacceptable, and it's why we've invested the MOST discretionary funding of any district to get the lights back on.
Think the rent is too damn high?
Join us at bit.ly/cd13vol and let's raise the wages and lower the rent!
We’re stand 100% with all of our education workers fighing for fair wages so they can care of our children.
I have been part of this kind of solidarity across the country when I was knocking on doors in Reno Nevada to elect Barack Obama, leading teams in the Arizona heat when we were doing voter registration and ousted racist sheriff Joe Arpaio and in GA when we elected Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.
I am thrilled to be the ONLY candidate in this race endorsed by the Democratic Party!
If we're going to successfully fight back against the fascist, racist Trump regime — it's going to require unprecedented solidarity.

You know what changed my life? The day my mom became a union member.
Because every worker deserves a good wage, health insurance, and to be able to spend time with their families.
Rick Caruso can attack us with outdated rhetoric, but people deserve the truth: this isn't an easy fix. This is a serious issue that warrants real solutions rooted in care.
After we built 2.1 miles of protected bike lanes across Hollywood Boulevard, traffic violence dropped, and public transit use skyrocketed. And now with Sunset for All entering public outreach, a networth of protected bike lanes from DTLA to WeHo is within reach.
People are dying everyday from traffic violence because for too long we’ve prioritized convenience at the cost of people being killed. (1/2)
We’re advancing a community-led vision that works for everyone — no matter how they get around.
Thank you to Streets For All for helping to lead this movement to make our streets safer for everyone.

This is part of a bigger vision: making it safer and easier to get around our city.
With Sunset For All entering public outreach, we’re building toward a connected bike network from Downtown to West Hollywood and beyond.
When we took office, we committed to prioritizing lives over convenience.
We built mobility upgrades across the district, including CD13’s first protected bike lanes — 2.1 miles on Hollywood Blvd. Since installation, traffic violence has declined and bus ridership along the corridor has surged.
Growing up, I built bikes with my friends. With all the chaos around us, this gave us an escape— and my first taste of independence.
As a kid in LA in the 90s, gang violence was a far greater concern than traffic violence. Since then, homicides have dropped 77% — but traffic deaths have increased.
Shelves are overflowing at the Silver Lake Library!
I just learned that there was a 4th (and 5th?) Hunger Games book... and I don't think the lovely library staff have seen a 43 year old man so excited about YA.
Whatever your guilty or not-so-guilty pleasure, come check out the new library today!
🚨 CALL TO ACTION 🚨
Trump's Department of Housing & Urban Development is trying to kick vulnerable families out of public housing and force them into homelessness.
But there's still time to stop it. Take 2 minutes and go to keep-families-together.org to take action and fight back.
We live in a city where more people die from traffic violence than homicides, but City Hall and our political institutions don’t act like it.
Everyone deserves to get where they’re going safely, no matter how they travel, and we’re fighting to make that a reality.
