A picture of the Engine 710 Land rover garage with a range of different looking landrovers parked outside. The garage itself is an old metal boat shed. If I turned round from here, past other boatsheds by Port Edgar Marina the Liberal Democrat party were doing a photoshoot ahead of the upcoming Scottish Parliament elections. Maybe they also fancied a land rover.
South Queensferry 30 March 2026
A view of the Granton Gasholder. It is now a park after a £20m refurbishment. It is a blue, cylindrical skeleton of enormous size. The blue is almost the same colour as the sky behind it. It is the centrepiece of what will be a significant social and mixed housing development, rescued from years of decay and a derelict, scrubby wasteland.
Edinburgh 27 March 2026
The frontage of St Pancras Station glows in Victorian gothic red brick under a beautiful blue sky. Cars, lorries and taxis bustle on the road below. Some scaffolding on the other side of the road sneaks in to the frame. I'm leaving London again and heading home.
London 26 March 2026
A view of Victoria Quay, which stretches along the right side of a central path. On the right side bike sheds and car parks. It's nineteen years since I worked here.

A view of a road bridge near Newcastle over the grey Tyne. Everything else - the sky, the land and the stanchion that dominates the front of the picture - is also grey.

Edinburgh 13 December 2025
Looking down New Street at night. Modern buildings on either side make a canyon with a dark end. A taxi drives down the hill towards a glowing entrance in the base of the black void. In the centre of the picture, above the canyon, is an illuminated building, dominant like a castle over the bustling streets below. This is St Andrew's House, headquarters of the Scottish Government. You can see my old office from here
Edinburgh 9 December 2025
Edinburgh skyline from Waverley Bridge the trees on the left and galleries are lit up in blue. The Headquarters of Bank of Scotland are lit with red and green stripes. The golden railway drives a path through the right side of the picture. There is a strange blob on the top right of the picture which may be light pollution or may be my finger over the camera. It is night and it's a pretty view.
Edinburgh 8 December 2025
At Berwick railway station. A white sign displays the name of the station. At the back is a derelict brick structure, at the front the rails in a bed of gravel and grass. The electric lines for the trains cut across the top of the picture and the grey, white and blue sky.
Berwick upon Tweed 5 December 2025
A cottage in fields. The grass is coated with frost, the sky is clear blue, the sun is rising in the middle left of the picture, so strong it looks like it is burning through from somewhere else entirely.

A view of the East of Fife looking out to the coast. Farmland stretches below. In the front of the picture is a small pond and a road bows round to the left.

A side view of UCL which is a stark modern building. A massive concrete pillar sticks out the top of the building looking a bit like a telephone antenna. Bare autumn trees glow golden in the morning light. If you look at the middle right of the picture there is something that looks like a lit up flying saucer. It is not, it's the reflection of the ceiling light in the room where the picture was taken. A blue sky is clear above the greys and browns of the building.
