People highlighting the Houthis are not nice people reminds me of something John Dolan said re: Yemen during the Arab Spring.
There are no good guys in the region. All the good guys in the region were systematically killed off by the CIA and Mossad after the past few decades.

Road closures and privacy screens around RAF Fairford are being framed as “safety measures” but they point to something much bigger.
We need transparency and accountability about the UK’s role in the US and Israel’s ongoing war against Iran. (1/3)
An energy transition in the Global North which is dependent on expanding extractivism will entrench ecological injustice.
Red Muqui, a collective of 32 orgs in Peru, has published a position statement setting out the need to look beyond the energy transition and build a post-extractivist future 👇
al quds is literally the arabic name for jerusalem. calling it anti-semitic isn't just an insult but tacit support for zionism.
screenshot of text::"The United Nations instituted International Women’s Day (IWD) in 1975—or so the official story runs. Few remember not only that the origins of March 8 lie in the history of the international workers’ movement, but that it was the socialist movement in the United States that first launched the idea of a day devoted to women’s rights centered on working-class women. In fact, the Socialist Party USA first established a day of education and action around women’s rights called “Woman’s Day” in 1908, and the following year U.S. socialists held demonstrations in several cities to demand women’s suffrage. In 1910, German socialist Clara Zetkin proposed the transformation of the U.S. Woman’s Day into an international day of action—International Working Women’s Day—which, in 1914, started being celebrated on March 8. Three years later, on March 8, 1917, Russian women workers took to the streets in St. Petersburg, organizing a strike to demand bread and peace. It was the beginning of the Russian Revolution."

James Baldwin
We don’t have access to the huge resources that the right can throw at elections, and this is a good thing. We have to build things from the ground up and can only rely on actually winning people over.
People like Trump only win because of low turnouts, voter intimidation/suppression/disenfranchisement, apathy, false information, false promises and the weakness of electoral opposition. Those victories are built on sand.
Nice work Greens. Effective grassroots organising has the long-term benefit of establishing an actual political base as opposed to temporary and unreliable support built on grievance and hate, or victories engineered through political tricks and misinformation.
The report includes a chapter where we detail Anglo American's responsibility for severe environmental and social rupture in Chile, Peru and Colombia, including melting glaciers, polluted groundwater, diverted rivers and displaced communities.
