The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.
and to be clear: I don't really blame students. Not fully. They are young and overwhelmed. I mean, imagine being 19 in *these times.* But I do blame the unregulated capitalist hellscape in which this is all unfolding, as well as university leaders that have jumped headfirst into promoting AI use.
I don't see this said enough: the widespread use of generative AI is not only making our jobs as educators harder logistically, but also emotionally. It is genuinely sad to be suspicious of students when you have spent so much time building a pedagogy based on trust and not being a cop. It sucks.
I said this in replies elsewhere, but I want to say it loudly here.
Anything other than a fullthroated affirmation of birthright citizenship in this country by SCOTUS is an act of treason. It is grounds for immediate impeachment. It is a violation of every oath they have made.
Two-year-old Kaleth is being locked away at the Dilley trailer prison. He is getting sicker with each passing day. He will not eat the food CoreCivc serves, which detainees have said sometimes has mold and worms. He now has a fever.

I can see why the academy might have seen these two films as neck and neck but no.. Sinners is a film that actually matters as a work of art. The ancestral scene *alone* blows anything in OBAO out of the water. Directing could go either way, but Sinners deserved nods for writing and best picture IMO
