Not the first or the last to make this point, but the protests really lay bare who is considered a “worker” by many people. Lads who run plant hire companies ✅, but Deliveroo drivers and women doing the admin in offices are the liberal elite
one thing that’s clear, whether you’re right or left or whatever worldview, is that Irish people want a PROACTIVE government that DOES things, that TELLS them things, that PREPARES for things. the Irish government does absolutely none of this, it does as little as it can do, and nobody likes it.
Fuel protest on Dublin's O'Connell Street
Just spent 2 hours at the fuel protest at the bottom of O'Connell Street and any notion that its a farmers protest is misguided. It may have started out as one but it has become something else entirely, fueled by Facebook and Twitter's algorithms telling people what to get mad at.
I am so tired of these fascist fucks trying to take over my city. Fuck them and the tractors they rode in on and solidarity to the farm workers slaving for them back down on their farms.

The person, Christopher Duffy, being interviewed by Newstalk and other media organisations, is a well-known far right agitator and outright racist. His Facebook page regularly posts and shares racist content, conspiracy theories and worse.
He seems to be one of the main organisers behind all this.
