Pragmata's writing is extremely sappy but in a nice way. The context of it being a dad game is that it approaches being a dad as 'what if a dad in a dad game was patient, kind and encouraging of their child" which is what you want all dads to be yet weirdly most dad games are about disputes. Hm.

Hell yeah, I think Jams are essential for the soul!

I don't think any show has made me feel emotions like the second season of The Pitt in a long time. God that's good TV.

I've seen far, far too much of my worst in Dr. Robby this season.

This is your reminder to play weird little indie games and support the devs

I realise this answer is more "what would this one deranged person choose to label a tab on a menu?" and less "what is the standard term (if any) for this action?" so, uhh, sorry!

"Preparation" or "Planning" would seem the easiest to me, though the latter definitely feels more "group heisty" than anything else.
Playing around a little with English, something like "Forework" or "Foredeed" could work, or if you wanted an Old English feel (forgive me linguists) "Foregewinn."

A screenshot of an Unreal Blueprint, from the "OnPressed Torch Button" it runs to a branch which checks to see if "block first input" is true, and if it does it delays for a tick and then sets it to false. If it isn't true it runs to a branch which checks to see if "block first input" is true, and if it does it delays for a tick and then sets it to false.

Looking through my blueprints to see if I can make a work-around for a weird UI issue, and why did I do this? What possible sequence of events could have caused me to duplicate this branch?

(I know the answer is copy-pasting, but c'mon.)

I've heard they like cat food, but I generally trust the magpies to be my friends (they are often not my friends).

Made a friend in a very bold Maggie, who flew right down next to me while I was digging a hole. I stepped back, they ate a few grubs, then I went back to digging. I offered them two worms, but they didn't seem interested.

They then sang me a little song before flying off.

A screenshot in GTA, a character in a top hat on a motorcycle, flying towards the sunrise. The distant sun is a yellow-orange orb, with its glow diffusing across the screen into pale-blue fog.

The same character in GTA, overlooking a small set of coastal buildings as the sun sets. The sky is a rich salmony-peach, reflected in the deep blue water. The ground is fading to dark, pockets of light from the buildings providing small moments of relief.

The character, standing and overlooking San Andreas at night time. The whole city is awash in pinpricks of light, the usual distance haze of GTA tinted to a more orange glow. Light pollution at its most beautiful, though stars still sparkle faintly in the sky.

GTA remains an occasionally gorgeous game, well over a decade since its release.

(Red Dead 2 has possibly the most evocative lighting of any game, and the seeds for that were laid here)

My thoughts after the first episode are pretty much the same as when I read the first volume of the manga.

1. Daemons of the Shadow Realm is a *terrible* name.

2. It's good, I like it, but it's not as immediately electric as FMA (which is, to be fair, the GOAT).

I finally have a proper dam setup in Timberborn, but since, like an idiot, I have the dam tops directly above the fill valves, the falling water causes them to overflow the top part of the river once every 20 seconds.

It still needs sound effects, and a few visual tweaks (I spent half a day trying to do a Slay the Spire-esque swoosh across the screen, but couldn't get it to not be scuffed), but it's nice to have that halfway off the list.

I finally (Finally!) have a system in place to display changing/adding buffs that doesn't break everything. I have been procrastinating implementing this for... about a year.

That was a real nothing address from Albo. Not sure why anyone in the government thought it was needed, unless it's just part of a long plan to put Albo on the TV more to remind everyone who's supposedly in charge.

A screenshot of Unreal, on the left we can see the "Vector Curve" AnimCurveBuffDisplay, and on the right in the blueprint the "Curve Vector" which has been set to the AnimCurveBuffDiplay Vector Curve.

Whenever I use a curve in Unreal I always forget that while you create a "*type* Curve" in the asset browser, you then need to set the variable type to "Curve *type*" in the blueprint.

*Type* Curve also does exist in Blueprints, but it's there for... other reasons, I think(?).

I wonder if it's a good sign for where Australia's going that I've started getting military recruitment ads again.

Experienced team looking for an ideas guy

Individually we each have over a decade of game dev experience across the indie and AAA space. We’ve recently formed a team to make a game and realized we have no ideas!

We’re looking to hire someone with a great game idea. No experience necessary. You don’t need to provide any meaningful contribution to the project other than ideas and opinions. You will get 50% of total net profits, we will split the other remaining 50%.

If you or someone you know might be interested in this, please remember that no one needs an ideas guy and this isn’t an actual job.

Thanks!

It's always so embarrassing to be in the second sentence of talking to someone, and realise that I've mirrored some of their speech pattern.

Clearly I want to impress the guy fixing my parents' roof, so of course if I ever speak to him again I must continue to use my semi-bogan-bloke voice.

It's an incredibly stupid joke, but the second episode of the new season of Invincible cutting to Nolan on the couch, pillow around his head, makes me laugh so much every time. So dumb.

It reads to me as "we think that what people don't like about AI stuff is *seeing* it, so we will say they won't."

And clearly they're right, because I see lots of people online lapping up that sort of statement, "great, I won't see the slop," they cheer.

Anti-art, ethically bankrupt, awful shit.

I know it's a minor thing compared to the rest of the world, but Part 5 was the first time I was up to date on JoJo as it aired, and it was so much fun chatting about the new episodes every week.

I have still not finished Stone Ocean, and that is not the fault of the content of the show.

Netflix: "You wanted more information on Steel Ball Run, right? Well boy do we have good news for you. Its second stage will release some time in the next nine months! Is that an episode? A batch release? An OVA sort of thing? Who knows? We'll never tell."

Absolute clowns.

On this day 14 years ago, an anonymous 4chan user posted a RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 thread showing a 30,696-foot coaster that took four in-game years to finish, complete with riders screaming “I want to get off Mr. Bones Wild Ride” and a looping exit where “the ride never ends.”

With every new episode of The Pitt I am becoming more and more convinced that the writers sat down to create a show designed to inflict increasing psychic damage to me personally.

Damn it's good TV, but jesus christ my poor brain.

I won't have this computer when One Piece ends in a decade, so I'll just have to commit it to memory.
