Game Of All Time, honestly, and it’s currently 80% off
isn’t it at least possible to produce most other hues from monochromatic light? nonlinear one-to-many mapping aside, that seems like a distinction worth making sometimes?
it seems useful to think about colors as we actually see them. Other times it seems useful to think about the electromagnetic spectrum. There’s a niche overlap at least: “pink isn’t real” probably truly applies for, like, blender rendering devs?
pink is very real in out perception, it clearly is. but there’s no single pink wavelength as there is for spectral colors
makes sense! my frame of reference was 2d games, which could be top down… wait, then it should really be north east south west. maybe those :)
or even all of up, down, left, right
notably L and R audio can’t change per x and y, just along t… not sure what conclusions to draw from this.
to me there’s something nice about a lot of these sprites being rounded rectangles right now
The frame and shadow made this look so different at first glance. Wonderful. The fade out being in palette sounds better, I’m mildly curious if you would automate this somehow or make new sprites manually
Yes! Have just experienced this too.
That sounds cool! another thing external tools are useful for is making the sprites.
Ridiculous idea, but I just thought that you could theoretically let people paste pixel art into the editor and it gets converted to palette + the grid of numbers haha. Maybe fork territory
that would be great. I do wonder, isn’t reading and editing lines of code really important too? and this only works when you start writing something new.
I personally use directional tags (from pattern:script) SO much that I find it hard to go back to PS by itself, maybe this *can* close the gap?
So perhaps text actually likes having equal padding but it’s very uneven by default? Sometimes the bottom also needs to be a pixel taller than the top one!
instead it just renewed. on the same day. 😅 … something to look into now…
theoretically you could also be blocked from entering those spaces vertically and then only need up/down to use them, which… maybe is a bit strange, ultimately.
yeah, that part made me stop and think… I make music for my own ears and enjoyment of the process and while it doesn’t sound like music from other people that I consider better, I genuinely find it fun to go through
hm, like… snake/tron!
The 3rd annual Thinky Awards promo poster illustration. The event is on Wednesday, February 4, at 10am PST / 1pm EST / 6pm UTC.
The @thinkygames.com Thinky Awards will be streamed next week and I'm very curious, since nuworm is nominated for Best Free Game 👀 ...and excited for another reason to check out some of these games I've not yet gotten to!

there’s a chance patty just called the puzzles frustrating rather than particularly difficult 😅
I know people here tend to like BlueSky, this being BlueSky, but the rapidity with which leadership verified ICE should give everyone pause.
A few of the prototypes and concepts even used the name “trails”, the registered trade mark here is a surprise 😅
If interested I could try to find some later
I’ve not read anything beyond the embed but this looks a lot like TreeStyleTabs, and more recently Sideberry, both very customizable firefox extensions I’ve used.
There are also interesting prototypes and small personal projects here and there that are similar.
For me time frequently goes by while lost in thought, “mindlessly” sketching, on my phone, etc. … but it’s not quite “skips”, maybe I don’t experience those. But it is a little jarring to realize how much time passed either way
I see now it was already shared, but seeing Maple Mono actually used on entire websites and such, together with certain softer color schemes feels so nice and different, it brings me joy. Now quite interested in seeing more rounded mono fonts.
There’s a free game I spent some of the last 3 years making, the developer of Öoo liked it and it is similarly long. It starts out pretty Sokoban-y but has a bunch of surprises. It’s called “nuworm” on itch io… I’m now curious if Puzzlescript games play nice on Steamdeck ^^
What if saving and loading and manipulating the “project of projects” (or perhaps the in-app window manager state if you will) is also desirable 👀
Immediately editable ones, that is. It’s fascinating but also should have been obvious, now I wonder why I have not seen it before :)
In the context of a typical whiteboard or infinite canvas application (I guess PureRef feels related) the artboards themselves exist in the layers panel or something like that? Cool idea, never seen this with raster images ever
Some puzzle games I’m really looking forward to that are not in most anticipated (at least not this year):
Unoxi by @bonpsi.bsky.social, Outpour by @drooshayne.bsky.social and Tome Tumble Tournament by @terzalo.com … all of these these have game mechanics that feel so tactile to me…
