It was great to be around the table for this event with leaders from construction and experts in men’s health
Encouraging to hear the shared urgency and intent to find solutions to this collective challenge to improve health in the construction sector

1 year on from last summer’s racist riots, our new report highlights experiences of communities across GB who told us that health impacts have been longer-lasting + worsened by increasingly hostile environments, misinformation & harmful politic rhetoric.

Today we launch Discrimination and Health, a new programme to help local people experiencing discrimination – including racism, homophobia and transphobia, ablism, misogyny, and agism – to take action & secure positive change to benefit their health.

Our initial view on the government’s 10 Year Health Plan for England: A welcome emphasis on prevention and addressing health inequalities, but less focus on the people who experience them.

People’s Health Trust has campaigned hard for change over many months for the reinstatement of the Winter Fuel Payment, working alongside our Network of community organisations, who support tens of thousands of the most disadvantaged older people across Great Britain.
We welcome the announcement by the Chancellor that the eligibility for the Winter Fuel Payment will be reinstated to around three quarters of older people, particularly the 2.5 million vulnerable pensioners who narrowly missed out on qualifying.

Depending on which region of the UK they live, as many as 1 in 5 young people (Wales, London, West Midlands) are unemployed. In the North West, 40% of unemployed people are age 16-24
Our new programme aims to break the cycle of mental health problems and youth unemployment
Through our work at People’s Health Trust, we’ve seen many ways to narrow the life expectancy gap through work that addresses the underlying causes of health inequalities, such as better paid secure work, homes that are safe and affordable, and access to quality food that people can afford.
Good to see both NHS England and DHSC confirm that prevention will be a focus of forthcoming 10-year health plan
This will be crucial if falling life expectancy is to be reversed, as stated in our @peopleshealthtrust.bsky.social evidence submission

That’s what we heard again and again from dozens of People’s Health Trust funded partners and older people they work with last month, as set out in our report: www.peopleshealthtrust.org.uk/news/press-r...
This builds on a great conversation with a dozen funded partner organisations last week.
As ever, their insights are invaluable and an important early warning system for government and health systems of what is not around the corner but already happening on the ground across Great Britain
Really looking forward to meeting tomorrow with 25 grassroots organisations at the front line of health inequalities - to inform People’s Health Trust’s response to the consultation on the NHS 10 year plan
All are current or former funded partners, and members of our experts by experience network
