Today is Vintage Trains' inaugural Cambrian Coast Express, being run as part of our 75th Anniversary Celebrations!
We were lucky enough to join the tour at their Tyseley Depot early this morning, and we'll be posting updates throughout the day.

Little 0-4-0st No.1563: The Hodbarrow Avonside.
This is built from a Oakhill Works SS with some modifications to the base to make it larger.
I've spent a while bashing it, and it still needs some work, but I'm happy with it for the time

In the 1920s, there was a rejected proposal to electrify the Leakbeck & Portethwaite to future-proof the line.

When garden railroads go for realism, they go hardddd. Chehalis Western Garden Railroad dropped this construction site image and I'm still enamored with all the weathering and detail. #modeltrains #trains #modelrailroading
And, to sign off the year, a couple of mischievous twins. The Rapido yellow Alfreds have become Bill and Ben! Hand-painted and weathered, they'll certainly prove trouble until I finish a Boco and Edward to rein them in...
Found some film slides from the early 1930s. Not sure there's much information about this footage out there.
FUCKIN CHRISTMAS INNIT
Travelling down the harbour branch in the 1940s, No.1 "BRIGITTE" hauls a train of loaded vans and open wagons loaded with product from the billiam quarry.
Never seeing passengers, the line that ran between houses was never kept free of weeds and made some believe the engine was off on a jolly.

Some echoes of the midland still lingering on.
The real MVP was The Beast, of course.
