These laws are unconstitutional and they deserve to be chucked out.

Listen to Executive Officer, Bart Shteinman on PM overnight discussing why the anti-protest laws in QLD and NSW are anti-democratic and it's a good thing they've been struck down in NSW!

25% you say, Angus? 😱

There's a 78% tax on gas profits in Norway, and they're doing just fine. But I guess their political leaders aren't captured by oligarchs ... 🙄

Jewish trauma is real.

The Holocaust was real.

Antisemitism is real.

And none of that makes the genocide of the Palestinians and Lebanese any less real.

Even if you are not a fan of Meta, there is a fabulous Australian Facebook group called “My Efficient Electric Home” (MEEH). It has lots of great advice to search through, and often recommendations for local companies. There will be heaps of discussions there about air conditioners.

I take my CO2 monitor to work with me too. I wish people understood what a difference fresh air makes. Massive.
Sadly my workplace has fixed (closed) windows in most areas, but it does have filters. I’m educating my colleagues bit by bit - they get a bit grossed out when the numbers are high.

Any government that isn't right now accelerating plans to transition to 100% clean, renewable energy is either:

a. Incompetent

"Luddites" is a good term for those who oppose AI because the Luddites weren't against *all* technology, just forms of technology that they knew would pay workers less and turn out a shittier product

Australian TV show “Utopia” is “Set inside the (fictional) offices of the ‘Nation Building Authority’, a newly created government organization responsible for overseeing major infrastructure projects”.
It’s both very funny and completely excruciating.

Analysis by The Australia Institute found Australia could have funded free childcare and university if a 25% gas export tax had been introduced after LNG prices surged following Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Trump insulted every single one of them today

Sutskever would later sit down with New York Times reporter Cade Metz for his book Genius Makers, which recounts a narrative history of AI development, and say without a hint of satire, "I think that it's fairly likely that it will not take too long of a time for the entire surface of the Earth to become covered with data centers and power stations." There would be "a tsunami of computing. almost likea natural phenomenon." AGI-and thus the data centers needed to support them-would be "too useful not to exist”

I see a lot of techies perplexed about the venom the rest of society has about AI. here’s just one sample of why so many people reflexively loathe AI

The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.

It’s Easter and the US President chose to share this, an unhinged and expletive ridden rant threatening war crimes against the Iranian people. Australians want no part in this and they expect our government to clearly oppose it and organise to prevent it.

In Australia (if my AUD$ per L conversion to USD $ per gallon are correct) we have been paying $6.54 USD per gallon for Unleaded. It’s $8.09 USD per gallon for Diesel.
Australia is almost as big as the USA. This is really hurting and it’s going to make food costs in remote areas very expensive.
