I’ve done from Kemi Curious to Kemi Keen Matt!
Just so horribly disappointed with Starmer, for whom I voted.
Oh and if backing a mainstream constitutional Conservative Party - rather than a Polanski or a Farage - is beyond the pale on Bluesky then so am I.
As good as everyone says.
Properly cinematic, warm, slyly funny, exciting, great soundtrack…and you'll blub.
Shades of great Spielberg sci-fi in its tone - ET, Close Encounters, Jurassic Park - and sprinklings of classic ‘hero journey’ movies like Star Wars. Go see on the biggest screen you can.
Many thanks Steve and apologies for only just seeing this!
Finished "1945:The Reckoning" by @philmcraig.bsky.social .
I reckon Phil's the finest writer of narrative history I've come across, in addition to being generous in sending me signed copies of his books. Highly recommended, along with Finest Hour and The End of the Beginning.
I learned a lot.
📢 Episode 4 of History's Devils is up
This week I'm joined by @philmcraig.bsky.social to discuss the traitorous British "peace party" that tried to do a deal with Hitler, spearheaded by a delusional grifter named James Lonsdale Bryans

ON the latest Aspects of History pod I speak to @robert_lyman about war, deterrence and the British state's habit of forgetting hard truths about hard power. aspectsofhistory.com/podcasts/epi...
One of my favourite history facts. Wolfe fights at Culloden in 1746.
Just 13 years later he leads some of the same Scottish clansmen he’d battled there on the Plains of Abraham, now integrated into the army of the King and helping to secure a North American empire.
My old mate Sue Horth produced and wrote some brilliant dramatised history films, and this was one of the first. Check out her new channel. I am hoping her 2014 masterpiece Our World War will be on it soon. youtu.be/ZHQ_YQAm68c?si…

Granada TV reunion. World in Action and Granada Reports. Best pub in Liverpool, the Shiny Edwardian gin palace aka The Philarmonic (where Paul McCartney appeared as a surprise a few years ago).
Great old mates and colleagues, and beer 6 quid a pint! Bargain for this jaded Londoner.
This week on the pod - we’re talking with @philmcraig.bsky.social discussing his book ‘1945: The Reckoning: War, Empire and the Struggle for a New World’
Superbly interesting and an enlightening look at the outcomes of the Second World War

When an interview I filmed in 1984 - one of his first - pops up on TikTok, and it does a lot, it gives me an indecent amount of pleasure! #unitedkingdom #thesmiths #nostalgia #1980s
