i also prefer an abdomen/pelvis powerplant, but with those designs the powerplant has to compete for space with the waist and/or pelvis joints for the legs. i feel like the balance has to be better than even back powerplant setups though, and depending on height it can also be easier for maintenance

the "separate module" thing also makes it more style-agnostic, i feel. you can design any bodytype that you want, and then just draw a "backpack" onto her as a cockpit.
you could also have a powerplant in the torso, so even with internal design you can make the power delivery very "human"
if i'm not mistaken, there's one called "monster sanctuary". the combat is turn-based but it's got the monsters handling the movement mechanics as you described
boring...... to my knowledge mosher loved walking machines and got to fleece the US government for them without actually building a weapon. i guess they're still boring but i've always felt romance from them
yup! the last server for it went down in 2014 though
(sorry about the deleted comment, it was a while ago and i forgot to double-check the year......)
you gotta get the updated version with gyobu on it
zephyr gundam isn't this 100%, but she definitely cripped the shoulder shield thing from the clover gundam toy.
i think i saw a video there with unicorn's tri-shield from her awakened mode! the i-fields they're supposed to have weren't modeled, though
posting this while being on the "refer to mecha as women" faction is probably putting up some serious red flags....... i'll let the experts decide on that. liking grunt robots more means that watching them blow up is sort of an inherent thing...
i know looking at shortform content is bad for you, but......
battle damage.......... mecha ryona....! this stuff really does it for me.
this channel does this same thing with a lot of other kits too so it's also neat from an armor design analysis angle
that ground gundam waist is evil, but in a funny way. i'm not sure how to describe it
voting for the coat of arms!!!!!!!
always thought yours looked really cool. it's a bit selfish but i don't think i'd be able to take it if i was the only one at this party with an emblem pfp
giant gorg has been sold to me as having those sorts of themes a couple of times
it does sort of feel like they're trying to use mecha to play other vehicles' games....
race track design can be contrived, so maybe that could be a good angle to look at it from. the track, through something like elevation change or density, only works for mecha
maybe the audience just likes yapping in general, it feels like the same sort of appeal that streamer tangents tap into
yeah it definitely falls victim to the "need to show the robot in the first episode" pitfall that victory had too
that episode doesn't really even make sense chronologically..... best i can say about it is that it's at least good at selling the combined arms approach the show has for action scenes
sorry everyone... i re-sketched the scopedog completely just to make sure the angles were more correct... why did i think that was a good idea.............
dougram needed the 3 different conflicts to say what it wanted to say about the course of revolution. the third one definitely gives off the vibe that the show got extended, but the extension is used to good effect too
also patlabor on tv but it already got mentioned..............
i actually didn't know about those because i only watched the anime. after looking into it though, it seems like the movies came first and then they got edited down into anime episodes (kinda like unicorn i guess????)
i don't see break blade getting any discussion...... kinda neat take on magitech mecha
an image comparing the lm312v04 victory gundam as drawn by hirotoshi sano, hajime katoki, and kunio okawara katoki's version is the original and uses the small torso, long legs proportions typical of his other works sano's version omits some surface details but widens the torso, enlarges the shoulder and skirt armor parts, and makes the knee armor and feet jut out more from the leg okawara's version has the surface details from katoki's version sa well as some extra markings. the lines for the torso, shoulder armor, skirt armor, and thighs are derived from sano's version while the lower legs and arms are derived from katoki's version. the result feels like a balance between sano and katoki's victory gundams. the head doesn't seem to be from katoki or sano and is probably drawn from scratch by okawara i forgot where i got this image from
sano's redraw here is probably my favorite, the proportions are just really flavorful
there's a version of this image that includes okawara's victory gundam and it's neat how he combines sano's upper body with katoki's arms and legs
oh damn nice
what scale is it in?
oooh, ears. like how horses do it, kinda?
a screenshot of the combat armor dougram resting in the desert. she's sitting on the sand with one hand on the ground and the other hand slumped over her thigh. there's some rust all over her as well as some cracks on one of her hands, on her shoulders, and on her back rocket pod. her head cockpit is open. she's splitting the sunlight up behind her into multiple rays if i explained how she's smiling it'd be spoiling something beautiful image source: fang of the sun dougram
like so, probably

would you say the cuffs are durable enough to punch another tankhead with them? even just once or twice?
holy shit it does........
iunno maybe mika akitaka was in the building when fujita was drawing it. iirc they both worked under shindosha studio at the time and got a lot of the same projects
i heard missionforce: cyberstorm holds up pretty good!
thank you!
what
where did the cute snake go??????
