5️⃣What’s next? Rolling out JETPs to further coal-reliant economies can represent a step towards keeping the Paris Agreement goals within reach. Timely anticipation can help avoiding a potential coal phase-in rather than managing a coal phase-out.

4️⃣The financial support foreseen in the JETPs cover the additional investments in the energy system in ZAF & IDN, and match the investment needs in VNM associated with a cost-efficient 1.5°C pathway. A broader policy package can help further align investments with a just transition.

3️⃣Not all JETP targets are binding. For instance, our analysis suggests that the target for renewables in Indonesia will reduce emissions beyond the 290 Mt CO2 target in 2030. Yet, setting multiple goals can be a robust policy approach that sends strong signals.
