Not a Pirates fan, still mentally deny that 71 and 79 happened, but I don’t think any baseball fan doesn’t love seeing them play well. The fans deserve it

When the Red Sox would come to Camden Yards I used to go stand behind the bullpens just to watch him play CF. Guy played the position at a different level
I think it’s crazy how people hear open bar and all the sudden think basic niceties are forgotten. There isn’t a “we don’t get tips” surcharge in the bill.
I usually just leave a $20 at the first drink, even if I only have two drinks I break even.
I’m generally a defender of umps, but John Tumpane is having a horrific day. Absolute mess of an ump
One of the more significant in American history
I’d second the Ty Cobb book, great read and gives a new light on Cobb’s place in his time. I’d also add A Well Paid Slave by Brad Snyder or A Whole Different Ballgame by Marvin Miller. Another great one is God Almighty Hisself by Mitchell Nathanson
The combined power of me turning it off and you turning it on changed the game
No one will ever convince me that the turning point in that Orioles comeback wasn’t when turned the game off #baseballgods
These guys are so bad at everything they aren’t even smart enough to evoke the Spanish Inquisition
One week from today the Dollar Country documentary Welcome To Dollar Country is having it's world premier at the Cleveland International Film Festival!

I have only written two things to SABR but after going through writing a games project article I can say the editors and fact checkers are invaluable. While I never worked with Mr Levin I can guarantee that after 50 years his influence on baseball history is incalculable
They should, and with how little most people pay attention to movies they watch at home I’d bet it would be popular
Last time I had jury duty they showed Sandra Bullock movies all day, and not even Speed
One of the things I enjoy most about social media and baseball is the inevitable “bench him he didn’t run hard on a ball that is foul/an out 99% of the time”. Yes everyone should try their best all the time, but if I was on tv every time I half assed work it would fill 24 hours a week
I went to the Imperial War Museum last year, they had an exhibit about drone warfare. On the wall was a quote from a kid, basically saying the kid hated sunny days because sunny days meant drones. It was heartbreaking. Only a soulless ghoul would claim people want war
It been interesting to see, our taxes went up (usually break even between state and federal, now owe about 3500). Seems like if you fit into a small group your teaches go down and the rest of us pay for it
I really love the app. I pay for it but I think it’s cool that they say the adds they play for the free service are all adds for the app. It’s really the best music app and algorithm I’ve ever used
Should also note, Idagio is a private company from Germany that puts more profits to the artists (forgot they have a feee option too for the app)
Also not a playlist but the classical music app Idagio is a pay service but the algorithm is amazing, plus their curated mood playlists are top notch
Big fan of listening to rebetiko while doing things (not instrumental but don’t know a word of Greek)

I expected some tough loses to start, a lineup that is still working itself out, couple tough injuries, bit of a messy bullpen. Just gotta hope they can hover around 500 while they figure out who works best where. Brutal loss but 8 games in, haven’t seen anything unexpected thus far
Oh yeah, thinking of another set
I wish it was the source for the Simmons in that set ( if I remember correctly his card is just a player sliding into 3rd)
M114 insert Luke Appling
M114 Insert Mel Ott
M114 Insert Al Simmons, second version on White Sox
Today’s @bobdavidssabr.bsky.social talk got me going through boxes, still think these M114 are underrated @sabrbbcards.bsky.social
My favorite part is Kevin Cash trying to figure out what is going on as he watches the replay.
It’s such a little thing but so glad that the Orioles give them away for free
It’s paragraphs like this that make it hard for me to call him a mystery writer. He does so much more
The Oriole Bird runs through the infield with the flag after the Os beat the Rangers 8-5
My scorecard for the Os for the game 4-1-26, a win over the Rangers 8-3
A fun first game of the season, Os win on a ABS assisted strike out. Couldn’t have asked for a more fun day at the ballpark
