Paul Thomas Anderson, 2025

Saw this twice in theaters yet it still hits sitting on my couch at home. PTA is one of my fav directors & this remains at the top of my '25 list. Loved Leo but Benicio steals every scene. Sean Penn with an all time weird walk here.

Sydney Pollack, 1975

Robert Redford really had it going on in the 70s, movie goers were spoiled seeing him up on the screen that often. A good paranoid conspiracy movie with a VERY questionable "romance" stuck in the middle. The last like 10mins though were 🔥

Clint Eastwood, 1975

Knew this wasn't for me the moment the main character started talking. The script & direction doesn't know what it wants to be; Eastwoods version of bond or a parody of bond? Was cool seeing some of the places I've been in the Switss Alps.

#42- Patton
Franklin Schaffner, 1970

Introduces me to two things I knew very little about: Patton & WWII African Campaign. Turns out Patton was a brilliant yet ornery asshole, with a very little regard for his own soldiers lives. This did lead me to Rogue Heroes, a banger of a TV series.

I didn't know how much I needed this Shakespeare adaptation with River Phoenix playing a narcoleptic queer hustler in my life. I thought that I couldn't be more smitten & impressed with him, I was wrong. Also, Keanu has always been a treasure.

Akira Kurosawa, 1958

Probably my least fav Kurosawa so far, just not what I've loved from him so far. Nice to see the some of the inspiration Lucas pulled from for the first Star Wars though. Also, the Princess' eyebrows were dangerous, a whole character by themselves

It’s OK to love all bees — including honey bees The accusations you may have heard about nonnative honey bees aren’t backed by evidence. Entomologists explain that there are plenty of ways bees make the world a better place.

North America's bee populations are in trouble, but don't blame the honey bees. While some people argue that an overabundance of managed honey bees is causing native bees to disappear, the evidence doesn't support the claim. (via @us.theconversation.com) https://to.pbs.org/4tIEZew

Howard Hawks, 1941

Widely considered a propaganda film (it is) as we entered WWII, I still enjoyed following one man's journey as he wrestles with his faith & duty while at war. Despite being their most successful film, this is neither my favorite Hawks or Cooper film.

#38- Bram Stroker's Dracula
Francis Ford Coppola, 1992

This movie has ALL the swag. The costuming, particularly Oldman's Dracula, is just above and beyond. I love the sexuality and horniness of this adaptation; although as much as I loved seeing Keanu's nipples, his accent was offensive.

It’s Time To Grow Up | Defector HBO’s new Harry Potter TV series is premiering this Christmas Day. Under current plans, it will last at least a decade. The trailer looks like the original films were run through an AI generator, but…

There is no way to watch the new 'Harry Potter' show subversively. If you're watching, you are buying in.

Trickster Noir & Oral Tradition in Killers of the Flower Moon: A Conversation with Lily Gladstone | In Review Online A new interview with Lily Gladstone, star of Killers of the Flower Moon, for film review site In Review Online.

As Killers of the Flower Moon enters the Criterion Collection, I had another wonderful conversation with Lily Gladstone, this time about the film, compartmentalizing joy with tragedy and cinema as oral tradition. One of my favorite people to talk to:
