It’s been more than a decade since Mike Brown coached in Cleveland but as a Clevelander reading these words conjured up something dormant (dread? disbelief? anger?) from deep within me…

Doing exactly what you should be doing on a romantic weekend in the woods… repeatedly asking your boyfriend whether or not he remembers the short lived series MTV Fear

Today Chad and I both got tools in the mail to help us pursue our Art… for him, an extremely cool camcorder… for me, a hunk of wood

Chad and I are watching a doc about the Weather Underground and this incredible YIPpie said, of the Capitol bombing, “The Weather Underground bombed the Capitol to bring a little joy to America. They wanted to put a smile on our faces,” and girlie… yes, 100% evergreen political commentary

Screenshot of an email reading:

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Naturalist [redacted] from [redacted] will be bringing a live big brown bat, Eptesicus fuscus, to the [children's area for our program on [date]. I didn't include live bat in the program description, because the [organization] was not able to guarantee the bat would be alive by October back when I wrote the description, but | just talked to [redacted] last week and their bat is alive and well.

So unless something tragic happens we will have a live bat on [date] from 1pm-3pm in the [children's area]!

We will also have a bat craft and maybe even some of our own own bat specimens from the cold room (still checking on that).

Best,

[redacted]

“Escaping” from the looming nuclear war by “doing my job” which today means preparing an “easy to understand” explainer on Medicaid eligibility changes and how these changes will translate into expected excess deaths in Ohio.

WFH has to be restricted and not for the reasons you think… I stopped to get a little lunch before running errands and everyone here has a laptop and not a single table has turned over since I got here. Send these people back to the office!!!!!!!!!! People like me (NOT WORKING) deserve a table!!

Screencap of the newsletter The Diagnosis with the following text highlighted: “Several readers described the paradox: The earlier they wake up, the more likely they are to be late. Extra time just gives the brain more opportunity to get lost in things they now “have time for.” That’s when the time blindness kicks in.”

Incredibly surreal to read a description of this dynamic WHILE I am currently EXPERIENCING it…

I was also listening to Italo Disco after dropping Chad off at work! At first I was like, “It is way too early for this” but I kept listening and it ended up putting me in such a good mood!

Still thinking about the college radio PSA I heard this morning… A riff on Reagan’s morning in America speech about how we should be proud to live in a country where you can turn on the radio and hear something you’ve never heard before. Ashamed of the US but proud of WRUW 🫡
