Forever?
You’re starting to make it sound like it’s the end of Lord Of The Rings and it’s time for us to head off on the boats over the sea!
It is, and I get why it suits the medium - super consumable. I just feel that (and probably because I’m old), I prefer the focus on the what and not the how.
Not quite sure how I feel about Instagram DJ trend of focusing on breaking down transitions. The mechanic of how you go from one track to another is possibly one of the least important things to put a hyper focus on.
“Oooh sounds expensive”
And then buried in the detail that the objection is completely cross party lines too.
I’m not a fan of my glasses (I find the on off on off for near/far really annoying) but holy Christ I can’t touch or have anything touch my eyeballs.
I mean how many times have you seen a dude with a household bin between his legs on a tram and thought “ah yes this is where I put my banana”.
There was no liner in it and they’d look at me like “why the fuck is this bin faulty” and notice I’d already have a “what the fuck are you doing with my bin” expression on my face.
I had this bin that I really liked. It broke and the only like for like I could get a replacement for required a public transport through Manchester to Sale to pick up and bring home. Despite it being nestled between my legs, people kept walking up to try and throw their crap away.

I saw it!
Bees.
I get like that with ramen. Like I need a bowl of purity and warmth.
New soyjak just dropped.
I think anything that smooths the journey between 100 to 125 helps. But you can avoid it. It’s be nicer to have higher monthly take home but you can do bigger pension contributions. And you’re basically holding on until child hits primary school, so it isn’t forever.
You’re worse off because you not only hit a higher tax bracket the childcare loss is the biggest one. I think the tax trap ends at 125k. I don’t have numbers to hand but if I get a moment I’m sure I’ve seen studies than illustrate it graphically.
Big drop, it’s not incremental the further you go over. That’s where the contention lies; the right thing is being done but the execution of it is a bit harsh.
Yeah you get a certain amount of hours assistance and that gets whipped away the second someone goes over 100. The imbalance can suck: you can have a family where the dynamic is two people on 95k and they get it, two with 105k and 28k and you lose it. Can smack you for a good 500pm+.
It’s probably 1/3rd of what they bring in. What the real moan is the controls that apply come in hard. Once you go over 125k, then you’re back good again. And I feel the ones pressing this all the time are WAY over that.
You don’t even need an accountant: if you can increase your pension contributions and divest bonuses, you’re in safety. Pension contributions feel meh but at least it’s working for you. It’s like basic information though and they know this.
It’s not fun having to navigate the tax hurdles and childcare drop off. But here’s the rub: you have controls available to mitigate this (which have a big upside) and at the end of it all, you’re still left with over £5k per month!
This is before your timeframe but popping up on MCDE’s Fabric mix, what a track.

Oh that one is superb, I started a mix off with it and a bunch of Akira samples over the top in a long lost session.
