Man admits rape and religiously aggravated abuse of Sikh woman John Ashby, 32, initially denies the attack but changes his plea one day after the trial begins.

Man admits rape and religiously aggravated abuse of Sikh woman whom he also subjected to a tirade of anti-Muslim abuse, wrongly believing her to be of that faith.

A view of Hostage Square in Tel Aviv now, where tens of thousands are attending the Alternative Israel Independence Day Protest against the Netanyahu government. The Israeli pro-democracy movement, refusing to be silent.

Labour supporters are basically at a point where they say "you don't get it, the Prime Minister HAS NO POWER and ISN'T ALLOWED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF ANYTHING!"

Driving her out of the country wasn't enough for them. Just an insatiable lust for destroying trans women and willing to harm anyone else to achieve that aim.

A dozen politicians, aides and officials β€” including some who have worked intimately with the prime minister in Downing Street β€” spoke to POLITICO on condition of anonymity, because the matter is sensitive, and described a leader defined primarily by his absence.
Starmer, they say, has no ability to manage a team; an aversion to conflict; no guiding mission for power; no energy to drive change; little interest in people; and no interest in political strategy. While not all agree, some suggest Starmer just isn't willing to do the tough work a prime minister must β€” perhaps because he likes his time away from the office more than he should.

Those things you heard about Starmer being good? A consummate manager with a thirst for social justice? At the absolute minimum, a hard-worker? All fake news I’m afraid

All these definitions have just made things worse tbh

Holy fuck.

Just a member of the Government cabinet 'joking' about deporting her political rivals.

There is, in fact, a right answer. It's the same one that she gave to the hecklers.

2 hours ago 3 1 0 0

she has to resign

this is not funny, *especially* if you are the fucking Home Secretary, with the actual fucking power to unilaterally deprive *anyone* of citizenship

if you bat for this government, for whatever reason, and I don't give a shit who you are, you are, in my estimate, a bad person.

and we cannot be friends. ever.

A Labour Home Secretary absolutely leaning in to their anointed role as the nation's authoritarian thug.

'Unlike Labour we don't see our borders as a laughing matter'

'We just want a firm but fair system with freedom of speech'

'Labour claim we're racist, but we just want strong borders whereas the home secretary thinks deporting people for beliefs is funny'

Very weird question, but it doesn’t surprise me in the slightest that she’d deport a Black woman, a Jewish man and a man of Huguenot ancestry.

I have a feeling Farage has a good opportunity to attack her from the left here

Some did: about 1 in 3 but about 2/3 voted Remain, often reluctantly. Minority turnout was below general election levels and white turnout above it. I think many ethnic minorities were quite agnostic soft Eurosceptics who didn't trust the Leave advocates.

Is just weaponisation of racism tbh

Mahmood actually arguing there is an 'element of racism' in criticising her migration policies is not a useful way of justifying or garnering support for controversial decisions that affect hundreds of thousands of people. It looks like an attempt to close off debate.

The government faces two opposition parties runming on mass deportations as their central public argument: Reform and Restore. This is a joke about deporting opponents from the Home Secretary [in the interview in which she says some of her critics don't believe she should be in the country]

Ahh OK. The usual then :(

This should be a resigning matter for Mahmood but also have to ask...
Why is Matt Forde encouraging politicians to discuss political violence against their opposition in the first place? How is this comedy?
Have we learnt nothing from Jo Cox?

She was asked "who out of Zack Polanski, Nigel Farage, Kemi Badenoch or Ed Davey she would taser or deport."
How is that okay?

Didn't get one either but if it helps:
The Home Secretary reportedly made the jibe during a recording of Matt Forde’s podcast when she was asked who out of Zack Polanski, Nigel Farage, Kemi Badenoch or Ed Davy she would taser or deport.

According to Politico, Mahmood replied: β€œAll of the above.”
