Several people have asked me recently what I do for "fun" -- when I am not at work (but I repeat myself).
I thought I'd share one thing today. To stay sharp as I get older, I have memorized the first 24,100 digits of pi
Perhaps after I retire I will memorize them in the correct order.

This year is predicted to be a bad year for ticks:
www.pestworld.org/news-hub/pes...
Of course, we knew that already. The MAGA luna ticks have been making life more miserable on an ongoing basis for some time.
Happy Burt Gummer Day!
And in the US, avoid the graboids long enough to file your taxes.
Either way, you become a big shot.
I'm all for that -- canonize me!

They say that during sex you burn off as many calories as running 8 miles.
Who the hell runs 8 miles in 45 seconds?
(For pedantics who will complain about me using "miles" in that, replace it with 64 furlongs.)
Remember six years ago when we were all keeping people away from us? And we were singing a little song to be sure we were washing our hands long enough?
I was able to do both at once by singing "Don't Fear the Reaper."

Thank you for the recognition today at the 27th CERIAS Security Symposium (ceri.as/2026)
Seeing our graduates succeed and make a difference is the best recognition.
Ah, memories! I'm recalling six years ago... I received a note from the Provost that I would need to self-isolate and remain off campus until further notice.
It wasn't a COVID precaution. Apparently, the faculty & staff took yet another vote on me...
Oops! Let the kids know the Easter Bunny may not make it by this year....
The great thing about abbreviations and acronyms is that you can reassign the expansions of the letters to meet your current narrative.
For instance, the "S" in "AI" obviously stands for "Safety," "Security," and "Sanity," and the "R" stands for "Responsibility" and "Respect."
April showers bring...April mud, April tornado warnings, April puddles, and April areal flooding in low-lying areas. And May mosquitoes.
I avoid X-twitter. Someone sent me the text of a post there, and it is hysterical (and sadly, has an element of truth). I can't find it posted elsewhere, so I guess I need to share the link here:

I saw a sign recently advertising an event: "Speed Dating for Charity."
Ah, memories. For most of my earlier years, any dates I had were charity, and they were over blindingly fast.
The White House has announced plans to honor the President for the 250th anniversary of the country: By July 4th, they intend to raise the price of a gallon of gas to $47.45.

Back when I used to do pranks on April 1, I spent some time and effort planning them.
This was perhaps my best one, from 2008. It will be somewhat fresh for many people now. Perhaps it will give some inspiration to those of you who need new prank ideas?

Next week is the 27th annual CERIAS Symposium! There is still time to register.

I woke up this morning, feeling wonderful, energized, and happy to be alive.
Now that I've been awake for a while, I've recovered and I am back to normal.
Picture of a grandmotherly type with a shocked look. Call me old fashioned but I don't think the signature from Epstein's birthday card should be on our currency.
Iran First.
Donald is smart that way.
Thank you, everyone, for noting my continuing my slide into senescence and decrepitude. I appreciate all the good wishes (and even some of the other ones). May we all win enough of the battle with entropy to meet up again in the not-too-distant future.
I'd be more likely to "grow up" if I saw that it had worked for anyone else.
This birthday marks a milestone: I no longer have to fear dying young. And if I go missing, there would be a silver alert with the word “elderly” in it.
Thankfully, I am not yet too old to set a bad example.
