Too kind, thanks. But, yes, I have been around a fair bit.

Looks like the next World Cup final will have a halftime show, FIFA says. The ‘soccerisation’ of football continues.

My memory fails me on this one, Bonita.

We’re still a small country, sadly.

Happy Australia Day everyone. We certainly can do things a bit better but it’s still a great country and I’m so lucky and privileged to call it my home for the last 44 years.

Atalanta fall
behind in Bergamo v Juventus. Big test of their mettle.

You thought you could escape me, eh??!! Welcome, mate. Looking forward to a few debates on this thing called football.

Also how to keep a status quo is subjective, isn’t it? If you have tired players you replace them, I reckon.

We’re always wiser after the event, aren’t we? Besides one of the substitutes scored late on so I really have no problem at all with the substitutions. It was a great match and could have gone either way.

I can’t agree with you, I’m afraid, Dave. Fornaroli is not a 90-minute (more like 100 these days) player any more and Arzani was well and truly spent. Their threat was non existent after an hour.

Arzani was gone. He was so tired he could barely walk and should have been taken off earlier actually.

That’s right. I would have been similarly thrilled had the match ended 1-1 because I look at the general play not the number of goals when judging football. Today’s quality was high.

The @aleaguemen.bsky.social deserves better crowds, Rob. Ok, some teams are crap but the best sides are doing the business this season. I’ve lost count of the wonderful games and lovely goals I’ve seen this season.

What a game! Western win it 4-3 at the death. @aleaguenews.bsky.social

Victory respond with another cracking goal to lead 3-2. @aleaguemen.bsky.social

What a brilliant counter-attack from Western United. This is a seriously good football A-League match.

Enjoying this @aleaguemen.bsky.social match between Victory and Western. As I have often said, the competition standard is pretty decent. There are two or three poor sides but most teams play the type of football that deserves better crowds.

Happy New Year everybody. And please be careful this NYE.

Serves him right for leaving football’s biggest club and some of the game’s finest players for more money at a lesser club and modest teammates.

Same to you, leg.

Tbh I was going to tip Inter for UCL but I think Liverpool might have a slight edge in speed.

It’s that time of the year so here are my football tips for 2025. A) Socceroos forced into WC playoff. B) Melb Victory win A-League. C) @Liverpool land UCL/EPL double. D) Atletico Madrid win La Liga. E) Harry Kane snares a trophy. F) Manchester Utd survive relegation scrap.

Wishing all my friends, acquaintances and followers a merry and safe Christmas. And let’s remember that it feels much better to focus on the things that unite us rather than on those that divide us (not an original quote but I like it).

Disgraceful what Holman did towards the end. And Brattan too for helping him onto the field. Both should be fined and suspended.
