Civil war + flooding have endangered cultural heritage 🏺 in #Sudan. Heritage for Peace published a series of 3 reports to 2024. Now UNOSAT published a report covering damage to heritage from 2023-now using satellite imagery. It is not comprehensive. More work is required. unosat.org/products/4225

The Ancients and Thin Edge of the Wedge are a couple podcasts that interview archaeologists. Both will mention if the person interviewed has a new book on the topic of the podcast, but the book isn't the focus.

New article! A team of us have developed a methodology (and script - see supplementary materials) for incorporating archaeological and palaeoenvironmental data into a model of past land use that is suitable for climate modelling 🧪🏺https://doi.org/10.1016/j.quascirev.2024.109142

A bit. HOT's focus is on mapping where things are, which is really important. UNOSAT doesn't usually do mapping in that sense (unless required), rather the focus is on identifying damage/affected areas with first results usually within 24 hours.
