aw man my invisibility powers are off today (Happy Trans day of visibility!!!)

Text: That drew a pushback from Woolwich Mayor Sandy Shantz. “We certainly invested over $200 million more than what we’re mandated to by the province,” she said of the region’s plan to end chronic homelessness. “That’s almost the same amount as we invest in police services.”
I think it is worth remember that Waterloo Region is investing a lot into housing and homelessness. However, I don't think Cllr Shantz's statement here is entirely fair. (A short thread).
On Tuesday, December 16th, 2025, Regional Chair Redman used her powers to change the Police Budget Vote.
Sarah McBride rarely centers her identity as a trans woman. Republicans do that for her. So when she steps to the microphone and talks about "21 years of unwavering homesickness," it means something. @mcbride.house.gov www.readtpa.com/p/watch-rep-...
FROM BERRY?? Unexpected but certainly very welcome!
People riding bikes in a downtown Vancouver separated bike-lane
It’s really important that #Vancouver’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally against bike-lanes, are now among their most vigourous supporters, because of ACTUAL EVIDENCE that they’re better for downtown business than any street parking they replaced.
Safe bike-lanes mean business.
Instead of trying to green cars so much why don't we just invest in trains. city trains. under ground trains. above ground trains. trains between cities. trains between countries. TRAINS
THE PEOPLE CRAVE TRAINS
FIRST TIME IN 32 YEARS!!!!!
@zohrankmamdani.bsky.social on making public transit accessible: "I think the way that you move around the city, it influences the way in which you see the city. Too often if you're riding around only in a car with tinted windows, the only New Yorker you might see is a reflection of yourself."
The Niagara Convention is where ONDPers gather in person and online to shape bold policy, sharpen our campaign skills, and strengthen the movement for a future working people can afford. Delegates have been listening to inspiring speeches, debating and voting on member-led resolutions.
Thank you to our Provincial Convention Delegates, who were elected at the August 2025 AGM: Peter Eglin, Brooklin Wallis, Kimiko Shibata and Debbie Chapman. @eslfairy.bsky.social @votebrooklin.ca
Aside from all of the obvious downsides, the worst part of frakking is that it basically confirms there are NOT mole people
of all the things I am not going to buy, this is the thing I am not going to buy the most
Text: “This request is unprecedented in this area of Cambridge and is extremely out of context for our neighbourhood,” said Patricia Shurrie, who lives nearby on Shadywood Lane. “If you drive down Branchton, then you will simply see single-family houses, and along Dundas are mostly farms.”
The idea that neighbourhoods have always had and shall always have just one kind of housing is ridiculous. Neighbourhoods thrive when we have an abundance of housing choices. If you only "see single-family houses" in your area, it's time to build more options. kitchener.citynews.ca/2025/09/12/n...
It’s time to IONize Waterloo Region!
Announcing our new campaign to build ION light rail the full length to Cambridge, and then to keep building. Check it out, and sign up for our newsletter for updates:
"As Premier Doug Ford continues to call for bail reforms that would see more people incarcerated while awaiting trial, provincial jails are more deadly, more violent and arguably more dysfunctional than they have ever been."
Spectrum Waterloo Region is officially here on BlueSky! If you've never heard of us before, we are a 2SLGBTQIA+ community space in Waterloo Region, Ontario. We run over 40 different support and drop-in groups every month for members of the rainbow community here in the region.
An image with four panels of a man on a bus who says to Zohran, “How do you navigate making it free and also not being seen as a socialist?” “Well, I’m not really worried about that part.”
An ad for one free month off a 12 month apartment lease
An ad for 2 free months of rent and a year of free internet
An ad for two free months of rent and a $1000 signing bonus
An ad for 20% off all studio, 1, and 2 bedroom apartments
Friendly reminder that in Kitchener Waterloo ADDING SUPPLY IS WORKING.
I've been saving ads for a few months to show this progression.
Growing incentives lead to lower rents, and that's exactly what's happening!!
Is Kitchener maybe kinda bringing SROs back?! This is 26 homes where there was one (1) house on a quarter acre lot:
Also true!! But I started seeing these advertisements well before the student population left.

A tweet from the FBI that says: Help the FBI protect children. As the Attorney General has made clear, we will protect our children and hold accountable those who mutilate them under the guise of gender-affirming care. Report tips of any hospitals, clinics, or practitioners performing these surgical procedures on children at 1-800-CALL-FBI or tips.fbi.gov.
On the second day of Pride month, the FBI asks the public to report tips for any hospital or practitioner providing Gender Affirming Care.

Happy birthday to all gay people
A family member passed on Thursday. I wanted to start Pride Month off with a bang, but I have more important matters to attend to. As a result I'll be taking a bit of a break.

I thought Kitchener’s East Ave reconstruction would be similar to the Highland Road and Wilson Ave design, but it’s somewhat disappointing 1/5
