Whenever I come across a place like this, I often pause to think about the people who lived here ... who they were, their challenges, their joys, their tears. I try to think about the generations of people who passed through this door and who made this into a home. I try to think about what became of them. I try to listen for their voices, but all I hear is the wind. The photo depicts an abandoned homestead in eastern Colorado. The image is black and white and rendered into a sepia tone. The sky is mostly covered in patchy clouds. The two-story house has a partially caved-in roof. All of the windows have been removed. The image perspective is from low to the ground.
