Heinous weekend. New house's pantry is infested with mites (I didn't know pantry mites existed until this week). All our brand new food had to be chucked. And poor kid has gastro. I've been non-stop cleaning... shelves, vomity sheets, toddler's angry bum. So good to finally sit down and enjoy this.

Hey @coreyatad.com, this sounds like a good reason to keep holding that Hathaway stock.

*For four. FFS. Or should that be 4FS 🙈

I pay four four separate streaming services and NOTHING THAT I WANT TO WATCH IS AVAILABLE TO WATCH IN MY REGION on any of them. As a writer, I try so hard to pay fairly for content, but really. I'm sick of having my options limited because I happen to live in Africa.

Okay, rant done. For now.

Oh, yes. There's a name for this condition. You have a chronic case of journalism.

Oooh! Just Googled. Sounds fun (despite the fact that I have Opinions™️ about most time travel related movies). Thank you!

Let me know what you think if you watch it! Have you watched the local flick Fanie Fourie's Lobola? Also a fave in this house, although it's more than a decade old now. I don't get to watch many movies these days, with toddler and cross-country move, etc. Have you seen anything great lately?

Amazing, thank you! Have followed. Loved the "making of" feature (bought the dvd just for that, tbh).

If you can find it (I've looked, but not in ages), Les Triplettes de Belleville. Bizarre but brilliant French animation with pretty much no speaking.

Moon, starring Sam Rockwell. Low budget Scifi that I will never stop recommending.

Anything you particularly feel like in terms of genre? I'm sure @thejessness.bsky.social has epic recommendations for days.

Other important things we got done in the last week include having the septic tank cleaned out. 2000 litres of 💩 It apparently hadn't been done by the previous occupant in years. So when I say he left us a lot of shit to deal with, I'm not lying!

The neglected backyard of our new home gets a little attention, with a new turquoise washing line (covered in a giant load of laundry, which had been pending) and winter veg seedlings planted around the posts.

This may look like a photo of messy laundry hanging in a scraggly backyard, but it's a symbol of things accomplished this weekend. Doubled our drying space by putting up a new line, which meant chopping up some paving and an overgrown bush to sink the poles. Used the holes to plant my first veg 😊

First time both cats have voluntarily joined us in the lounge of our new house and settled in to chill for a bit. Major progress, given that Moz has basically been living under the bed for two weeks.

Bought a house in Tokai two years ago (and put in spectacular kitchen and BICs thanks to @malcolmxsansx.bsky.social). Finally getting to move in! Took a year to sort out CoJ and another year to find a buyer that stuck.

Both cats are now here and safe, but obviously traumatised by their separation and travel. Velvet has finally come out from under the bed to eat, drink and use the litterbox, and even settled on the bed by my feet, like a normal night. Moz will take a lot longer, but I'm beyond grateful he's okay.
