There’s no way to couch this: Vance is getting pillowried during negotiations in the former Ottoman Empire sofar.

Accidentally strolled into a clog makers’ shed today.

A book held in hand. The title says GREYHOUND, the author, listed in the middle, is JOANNA POCOCK
Really enjoying “Greyhound” by @joannapocock.bsky.social, an especially great companion while traveling in the US.
Pretty sure it’ll make an appearance in one of my upcoming newsletters.
Earthset captured through the Orion spacecraft window at 6:41 p.m. EDT, April 6, 2026, during the Artemis II crew’s flyby of the Moon. A muted blue Earth with bright white clouds sets behind the cratered lunar surface. The dark portion of Earth is experiencing nighttime. On Earth’s day side, swirling clouds are visible over the Australia and Oceania region. In the foreground, Ohm crater has terraced edges and a flat floor interrupted by central peaks. Central peaks form in complex craters when the lunar surface, liquefied on impact, splashes upwards during the crater’s formation. [alt text from NASA]
#Artemis II lunar flyby images are showing up! 😍
A crescent Earth setting behind the Moon.
i'm finding it extremely hard to think about or focus on anything else after seeing pics like this
A dining table for two lit by a wall light, and above it hang black and white photos of life in Louisville Kentucky, or people who dined at the restaurant
Fantastic birthday dinner at Jack Fry’s in Louisville 🥰
A photo of a sliver of Earth seen through the window of the Artemis II.
What a view, from the Artemis II.
That’ll be @carmichaels.bsky.social—kind people, and a great selection. I came away with three new books, but could’ve browsed for hours.
Let me know what you think when you’ve finished it! 🤗
Carmichael’s in Louisville, Kentucky. Very, very good!
Samantha Harvey’s “Orbital” has been floating around my mind since the Artemis II launch. Every politician on earth should sit down and read it.

You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it. From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch
This quote from Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell has been in my head the last few days

A road next to a large park in Louisville, Kentucky, with a pedestrian traffic light.
Different scenery for my morning run today.
I’d very much like to justify the €70 expense of a notebook, but if it writes as great as advertised, how do you justify its repeat expense?

What a fucking shot holy shit
A sad thing about all this is that I have gotten kind of tuned out of space stuff because so much of it now is at least partly billionaire propaganda. To be honest, I didn’t even fully understand that this launch wasn’t until today.
Just another thing I’d love to feel better about someday.
I re-read “The Memory Police” by Yōko Ogawa last week.
Originally published in 1994, it’s a dystopian novel; a beautifully written tale about an island where vanishing is ordinary, and remembering is dangerous.

The NoGood site got featured on The Colophon ✨ And it's in good company, right next to two @daniel.pizza websites!
Thanks @ronaldsvilcins.com 🙏
Looking forward!
It doesn’t matter though. Poor ideas never survive. Let them make the thing, have some fun, and move on. Good things have staying power 🤗

interior of a book store. large, floor to ceiling book cases line the walls. two employees stand in the middle of the store. books are... everywhere
The other day I found myself at Söderbokhandeln Hansson & Bruce in Stockholm, and ... this is the best book store I've ever visited. Beautiful space, a fantastic collection, many books from small presses, many in translation, they had me hopping from shelf to shelf.
😌
Great analysis, as usual. They're struggling to play slow, and struggling to play quickly. Very frustrating to watch.

(bol.com is a major Dutch retailer—the Amazon of the lowlands—so I'm surprised my tiny publication trumps them here)
screenshot of a google search for 'paddy clarke ha ha ha', showing a Wikipedia entry at #1, and my review on Trema at #2.
Trema is starting to do well in Google, with my reviews sometimes appearing among the top 5 links for certain book titles.
I better fix that favicon :)
