The Bygone Era of Supreme Court Support for Voting Rights Sixty years after upholding the Voting Rights Act, the Court has dismantled most of it.

The right-wing extremists, currently a majority of our Supreme Court, do not care about voting rights or democracy or Constitutional checks and balances.

Don’t Panic About Trump’s Election Threats Trump has no authority to run federal elections. In this year’s midterms, the big threat to democracy is apathy and complacency.

This lack of concern is sadly, stupidly naive. “Yes, Trump said that ‘law enforcement’ should be deployed at the polls, and . . . [may] dispatch [ICE] to intimidate voters. But . . . [s]hould the feds try, courts would almost certainly issue immediate orders to prevent voter intimidation.”

A reminder: The Attorney General of the United States should be the people's lawyer, not the president's personal attorney. The Department of Justice should act to protect the public, not the occupant of the Oval Office and his political allies.
