HBO has opted not to renew Sesame Street beyond its upcoming 55th season. HBO outbid PBS for the rights to air the show in 2015, then began airing it in 2016. PBS had the rights to second-run broadcasts in that era. Thus, lots of people never realized Sesame left PBS.
