The Green Party is urging the Govt to activate the Civil Defence Payment across Wellington immediately 🚨
It exists for exactly this situation and must cover all affected communities, including those outside the official zone who have still lost belongings.

If Winston doesn't want to work with racists, why is he in the same party as Shane Jones and why is he in coalition with Paul Goldsmith?

Relevant to that dirty Australian plan to make urea from lignite in Southland, here's the PCE in 2010 saying its a terrible idea. Using their numbers, 1.5 MT urea means 2MTCO2 emissions every year. Which completely blows all future carbon budgets pce.parliament.nz/media/m1vcbt...
The comments from both senior ministers on RNZ's Morning Report signalled the election campaign has well and truly begun, with Willis also saying Peters was "mischief-making". She went on to say that Labour was "choosing to get into bed with the party that referred to Indians choosing to come to New Zealand as a 'butter chicken tsunami'". Willis' comments were on the weekly Morning Report political panel alongside Labour's Tangi Utikere, who she accused of being in a party that was "courting exactly the same concerns that New Zealand First are trying to whip up" in regards to the New Zealand-India free trade agreement.
Nicola Willis, in coalition with NZ First, accusing Labour of jumping into bed with NZ First and using racist comments made by her coalition partner, NZ First.

There’s no real difference, but he really wants the knighthood and I want to do whatever’s required to deny him of that.
Is there a way to oppose someone getting a knighthood?

Wellington, which is under a state of emergency, and has had the most damaging floods in decades and the PM hasn't mentioned it at all.
Will Luxon ride all the way to election, even with National polling lower and lower with the prospect of becoming a minor party.
And fuel an incoming Civil War inside National
Given Luxon's sulky response, I assume the next stage is punishing those deemed disloyal. Because that will make his caucus love him.
The professor from Futurama and the words "Good News Everyone!"
Luxon remaining PM up to the election. Excellent news for the left. Looking forward to a poll at some point next week. Will he survive National sinking to the mid-20s?
Nothing says "I'm a confident and secure Prime Minister" like reading a pre-written statement, which includes snarky attacks on the media, then walking out of your press conference without taking questions.
The Prime Minister will be available in the Banquet Hall to speak to media very soon, a spokesperson for the PM has confirmed.
The prime minister will be available, but who will the prime minister be?
Waikato MP Tim van de Molen once threatened Shanan Halbert and was stripped of all portfolios, pre-election
Kuriger (from her Facebook profile) Deputy Speaker
5 National Party MPs now being painted as "disgruntled" staffers:
- Barbara Kuriger, Deputy Speaker
- Sam Uffindell, once attacked a kid
- Andrew Bayly, called Kiwi worker a loser
- Joseph Mooney, called for deportation of Kiwi citizen
- Tim van de Molen, threatened Labour's MP
The fact that Labour still haven't (and likely won't) rule out a potential coalition with this disgustingly bigoted party tells me everything I need to know about Labour's values
Chris, you shall be visited by three spirits. The first spirit is the ghost of caucus past.
Brownlee going into the caucus meeting, potential to vote? Something's afoot.
the thing about our current moment is that yes, the anti-AI and anti-big tech people are getting very reactive nowadays - but have you seen what they’re *reacting* to?

Please give us viable and safe alternatives to driving, we will use them. The congestion is so bad and getting worse because of government policy decisions. One more lane makes traffic worse because of induced demand.
Despite RNZ's headline trying to spin it as a positive, the article shows that Winston has been scheming to ensure NZ helps the US to wage war.
Opposition parties need to announce they will dump such a deal.
