‘I see it as trafficking’: the brutal reality of life as a foreign student in the UK The long read: Universities in Britain rely on overseas applicants paying full fees, which has given rise to some unscrupulous recruiters and left many hopefuls and their families deep in debt

This is sickening.

Our district council still starts their meetings with a prayer…. Why?

Who would put themselves forward to be in a public role these days? This is terrifying.

The IWD posts from men thanking all the women in their life for everything they’ve done to support THEM isn’t exactly the message they think it is. And there’s a LOT.

I thought crochet is meant to be calming. My heart rate is slowly rising as each extra little fecky thread gets caught on the hook and I have to unravel it AGAIN!

Maybe it’s not for me.

Top 3 things I hated when I was a kid, then ended up absolutely loving as an adult:

• Cabbage
• An early night
• Not being invited to parties

The wipers on the bus sound like Eminem going ‘Aaaarrghh’ in Without Me.

The Full Moon this month is known as the Worm Moon.

The Spring soil is warmer & earthworms start to appear.

In the story of Humpty Dumpty it is never said that he is an egg. However, it is never said that he is NOT an egg. This means that any character in ANY story could be an egg unless explicitly stated otherwise. Keep that in mind when you read a Jack Reacher novel

That’s astonishing. Surely it should be UK government putting many millions into reconciliation. And Cambridge Uni? Wow 🤯

Funded by the government’s reconciliation fund - which government? €4.3 million.

Hey, as a librarian I need to tell you:

Our funding depends on usage.

So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.

The wall is mostly mirrors, framed in carved wood, detailed, the mirrors being very busily decorated (engraved?)
I could just give the game away here in the alt description of where it is.
Oh ok then, it’s the Assembly Rooms in Kentish Town where I took my son to sit in the same place his great great grandfather came and played the piano and sang after a hard days work as the Pop Man delivering soft drinks to the area on a horse and cart. Those mirrors were likely there 100 years ago when he frequented. Bit mind blowing.

In a pub in London - do you recognise it from this poorly shot photo of the ornate mirrors and decorative ceiling?

There were guys sitting there enjoying their drinks so I said I wouldn’t include them. They wanted to be included and one guy took his hat off for it. Er, I still didn’t include them.

Two benches beside each other on a stony dirt path

The view from the bench is a huge magenta coloured billboard in front of a road

I like to take a walk on the new estate. It’s very flat round here so they even built a little hill and put some benches there to take in the view.

The view.

For any parents / carers who might have missed this - here’s a thread of videos of TOYS you can make using scrap materials you probably have lying around your home. Perfect indoor activities for a rainy day like today
