For more information about Snow Emergencies and any snow-related closures, please visit somervillema.gov/snow or contact 311. Thank you.
With snow ending overnight the shoveling deadline was 1 p.m. Tuesday. A path at least 3 feet wide and down to the pavement is required to accommodate wheelchairs. We know the conditions are tough out there. You still have to shovel, but we’ll apply common sense with enforcement.
Residential or visitor parking permits must be cleared of snow and visible by 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25. Vehicles must be fully cleared of snow by 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 26.
Cars still parked in City lots after 10 a.m. on Wednesday may be ticketed and towed to ensure crews are able to safely plow lots.
Due to weather conditions, residents parked in City-owned lots during the snow emergency have additional time (until 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 25) to move their vehicles after the end of the snow emergency.
The City's snow emergency will end at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, and normal parking rules will resume at that time. Do not move your car to the even side of the road in advance of the 8 p.m. Tuesday lift.

(2/2) Schools and Libraries will also be closed, and trash remains on a one-day delay (and please understand they may take longer tomorrow to complete their run). DPW remains on the job. For more closure info, please visit somervillema.gov/snowclosures.
(1/2) Hey, Somerville. As we continue to work through this storm, please know all City offices will be physically closed on Tuesday, February 24. City staff will be working on snow response and any services that can be completed virtually, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.
City offices will be closed tomorrow, but trash will remain on a one day delay this week. Thanks for checking!
In Somerville, for snow emergencies this year we think ODD and "pahk smaht": please move your cars to the odd side, away from corners, and out of school lots by 4 p.m. Sunday 4/22.
If you may be unable to move your car out of a City lot with potentially short notice, please find alternative parking. Parking is not allowed in school lots during snow emergencies.Vehicles that are not removed from school lots before 4 p.m. on Sunday may be locked in, ticketed, and towed.
City parking lots are also available for snow emergency parking. For a full list of available lots, visit somervillema.gov/snow. All cars must be removed from City lots within 2 hours of the end of the emergency. Snow emergencies can be lifted at any time.
Based on current weather forecasts, the City is declaring a snow emergency to go into effect at 12 noon on Sunday, February 22. Beginning at 12 p.m., cars will have 4 hours (until 4 p.m.) to move to the ODD side of the street. Any exceptions will be noted by nearby signs. 🧵
Hi Laura, could you send us your request number or provide us with the location so we can look into this?
City buildings will be closed Monday, February 16, in observance of Presidents' Day. Trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day.
Any trees not collected by then must be removed and held until yard waste collection resumes in mid-April.
A reminder that the deadline for Christmas tree pick-up is Friday, February 20. Trees can be placed directly on the sidewalk on your regular trash day after removing all decorations. Do not put trees in a plastic bag.
Move cars to the odd side where possible to allow plows and emergency vehicles safe passage. Cars parked too close to corners or blocking travel lanes may be ticketed and/or towed.

Important message for Saturday, February 7: Although the City does not have plans at this time to call a snow emergency, with snow coming, do not park within 20 feet of a corner. Only park where a 12-foot travel lane remains.🧵
